Heidi Feek publicly challenged her father Rory Feek’s account of a family dispute in August 2024, raising concerns about her younger sister Indiana’s safety and saying contact with Indiana had been restricted. Rory disputed his daughters’ claims and said Indiana was well cared for. The statements were competing accounts, not findings that independently established what happened.
What Rory wrote in “love, dad”
On August 31, 2024, Rory published a blog post titled “love, dad,” addressing what he described as a family dispute involving his adult daughters and his youngest daughter, Indiana. He objected to family disagreements being aired online, writing, “The internet, social media, or in public is not the place to settle family disputes.” Rory’s August 31 post

Rory disputed his daughters’ claims and said Indiana was being well cared for. In contemporaneous coverage, he described her as having “never been more loved or better cared for than she is right now.” He also described disagreements over the movies and music his daughters wanted Indiana to watch or hear, and said he wanted contact between the siblings to resume. These are Rory’s descriptions of the dispute, not independent findings.
What Heidi said in response
Us Weekly reported Heidi’s allegations, based on her interview with People, that Indiana had been neglected and exposed to danger. Heidi described an incident in which she said Indiana “wandered into traffic on Highway 431, terrified and lost, until a stranger found her and brought her home.” That account is an allegation attributed to Heidi; the reviewed reporting does not independently verify it. Heidi also said she and her sisters had lost regular visits and phone contact with Indiana. As quoted in the report, she said: “Now, he doesn’t let us talk to her on the phone and won’t respond to my texts.” Her account describes the sisters’ experience; it does not establish the reason for the restrictions or a legal finding about access.
A Yahoo Entertainment search result describing the People story characterized Heidi’s response as an open letter and included the phrase “We Are Taking Action.” The result also said she was heartbroken by Rory’s account of Indiana’s care. Those details support the broad description of her response, but not a fuller account of the letter’s contents. Yahoo Entertainment search result for the People story

| Issue | Rory’s account | Heidi’s account | What the reporting establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indiana’s care and safety | Rory said Indiana was well cared for and disputed his daughters’ claims. | Heidi alleged neglect and described a dangerous incident near Highway 431. | The statements were reported as opposing accounts; the reviewed coverage does not independently verify the allegations or establish a finding about Indiana’s care. |
| Contact with Indiana | Rory said he wanted sibling contact to resume. | Heidi said visits and phone contact had been restricted. | The report conveys what each side said; it does not establish the full circumstances or legal basis for the contact arrangements. |
| Public discussion | Rory argued that social media and public forums were not the place to settle family disputes. | Heidi responded publicly, with the response described in the People/Yahoo headline as an open letter. | The public exchange is documented, but neither the coverage nor the statements themselves adjudicate the underlying dispute. |
What is known about the later court proceedings
In a January 15, 2026 post, Rory said a trial concerning Indiana’s future had begun in Columbia, Tennessee, and that it had been temporarily suspended. That is Rory’s dated account of the proceedings. Rory’s January 15, 2026 post
The reviewed sources do not establish what happened after that post or whether a final disposition was reached. Accordingly, the temporary suspension should not be presented as the current outcome.
