Spoilers for Arthur Morgan’s ending. Roger Clark, the actor who portrays Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, says his personal canon ending is to help John escape with high honor. He reasons that Arthur is dying and has little to gain by going back for money. That is Clark’s preference—not an official ruling from Rockstar.
Which ending does Roger Clark consider canon?
In a Gamology fan Q&A, Clark chose the high-honor path where Arthur helps John. As PC Gamer reported on August 30, 2024, Clark explained: “I never see much point of going back for the money, you know, Arthur’s days are numbered. What’s money gonna do [for] him anyway? You might as well help John.” He added, “So I think going back to help John, with high honour, for me is my canon ending.”

The key qualification is “for me”: Clark was giving his own interpretation, not announcing a canonical outcome on Rockstar’s behalf. RDR2.org and Gamepressure likewise frame the answer as Clark’s view.

Clark’s personal pick is the high-honor version of helping John. The choice reflects what Arthur does at the end; it does not make his fate happy. GamesRadar+ reports Clark saying none of the four outcomes is a happy ending for Arthur. When fans describe one as “the good ending,” Clark responds: “There’s a good ending?! What are you talking about?”

No official Rockstar designation is established by Clark’s interview or the cited coverage. His answer is useful as the actor’s personal reading of Arthur’s final decision, but it should not be presented as confirmation of which ending is canon to the game’s wider story.
