Its five principal stars were Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa, Talia Shire as Adrian Pennino, Burt Young as Paulie Pennino, Carl Weathers as Apollo Creed, and Burgess Meredith as Mickey Goldmill. A “last appearance” comparison needs care: the available evidence supports some later Rocky-franchise facts, but does not establish each performer’s final screen appearance across their entire career.
Who was in the original Rocky?
John G. Avildsen directed the 1976 film, and Sylvester Stallone wrote it as well as starring in it. The American Film Institute Catalog lists the principal cast and the film’s December 3, 1976 release date. AFI Catalog: Rocky

What does “last appearance” mean?
It can mean the performer’s last appearance in a particular franchise, or the latest film or television credit in a career. Those are different claims. A franchise comparison can be checked against sequel credits; a career-wide final-credit claim requires a defined scope, including whether television, voice work, archival footage, uncredited roles, or cameos count.
The available sources do not establish a career-wide final appearance for all five performers. For Young, the AP’s count of six films is useful franchise context, but it does not name the last one. For Weathers, the AP obituary connects him with Apollo Creed and reports his death; it does not by itself establish the final appearance of every cast member.

Where are the Rocky cast members now?
The Associated Press reported that Burt Young died in 2023 and Carl Weathers died in 2024. Those dates distinguish the two performers’ present-day status; they do not supply a complete filmography or prove a career-wide final screen credit. The sources cited here do not provide equivalent current-status or final-credit details for Stallone, Shire, or Meredith.
For a visual comparison, label the later image for every performer consistently—for example, “last Rocky-film appearance”—and verify each against the relevant sequel credits. Do not mix franchise appearances for some people with career-final roles for others. If a comparison uses archival footage, flashbacks, voice-only work, or cameos, identify those explicitly.

How old is the original Rocky?
AFI dates the film’s release to December 3, 1976. On October 4, 2026, that was 49 years and about ten months earlier; the 50th anniversary falls on December 3, 2026. “49 years later” is therefore a calendar-accurate framing for October 2026, but it should not be read as saying the film is exactly 49 years old on that date.
