The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony brought eight performer inductees to Cleveland on October 19, alongside tributes, presenters and guest performances. Dua Lipa opened the show with Cher’s “Believe,” then Cher joined her onstage. Mary J. Blige was among the inductees. The galleries below document different moments from the event; check each caption to distinguish performances from press-room and other images.

Dua Lipa and Cher perform “Believe”
The Associated Press’s post-event report says Dua Lipa opened the show with Cher’s “Believe” before Cher joined her onstage. Getty Images’ event gallery includes photographs of the pair performing. Use the gallery’s caption to identify the pictured moment rather than assuming every image of them is from the performance.
Mary J. Blige and other ceremony participants
Mary J. Blige was an inductee, not simply a guest at the event. ABC News’ photo captions identify Blige speaking at the ceremony and Cher and Dua Lipa in the press room. Those settings are distinct from an onstage performance; describe each image according to its caption and what it shows.

How to read and caption the galleries
- Identify the moment: Label a photograph as a performance, press-room appearance, arrival, backstage scene or audience image only when the image or its caption supports that description.
- Use accurate roles: Call the Hall’s class members inductees. Describe Dua Lipa here as a guest performer; do not imply she was inducted.
- Credit and clear images: Getty Images and ABC News show that event photographs and captions are available, but gallery availability does not grant permission to reproduce an image. Confirm the specific image credit and publication rights separately.
