Why Cher and Ozzy Osbourne were major names in the class
Cher
Cher was inducted as a Performer, with Zendaya presenting her induction. The Hall describes a career that moved through folk-pop, rock, disco and electropop, and highlights her continuing reinvention as well as “Believe.” Its profile calls her “the only woman with No. 1 hits across seven decades”; that is the Hall’s characterization, and the profile does not name a chart publisher or specify a year for the claim. Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy Osbourne was also inducted as a Performer; Jack Black inducted him. The Hall says Osbourne “co-pioneered and repeatedly reshaped heavy metal.” His solo career began with Blizzard of Ozz, which the Hall profile identifies as the starting point of that chapter. Read Ozzy Osbourne’s Hall profile.
When and where was the 2024 induction ceremony?
The ceremony took place on October 19, 2024, at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The Hall Museum Store’s listing for the induction program describes it as more than 170 pages and names the class it celebrates. View the Hall Museum Store program listing.

According to the Hall’s selection-process page, eligibility begins when an artist’s first commercial release is at least 25 years before the induction year. The Hall also identifies musical excellence, impact and influence as selection considerations. An international voting body of more than 1,200 inductees, historians and music-industry members casts ballots; aggregate results from the annual online Fan Vote count as one ballot alongside that process.
