“It actually starts in the writers room – the writers go in day after day after day and really look to the culture to see what’s relevant, talk to people in the industry to figure out what’s trending, and try to put our finger on the pulse of what a workplace environment is like.”
Those remarks were about the creative process for the season then airing. They did not announce or promise another season. Ubisoft’s interview with McElhenney provides the original context.

No fifth season was announced in McElhenney’s comments. TheWrap reported on April 11, 2025, that Mythic Quest was canceled after four seasons. The report said the season 4 finale would receive an updated version to give the series a formal goodbye.
In a joint statement reported by TheWrap, executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby and McElhenney said the show was “coming to a close” after four seasons. They added that, with Apple’s approval, they had made “one final update” to the last episode so they could say goodbye rather than simply end on “game over.” TheWrap’s April 11 report includes their statement and details of the updated finale.
