The sequence connects the song’s playback and the confrontation in time, but it does not by itself prove that the track caused the fight. Reports relayed that the group took offense at the song; the available accounts do not establish the people involved, their affiliations or their reason for confronting Ross.

What is known about Drake’s connection?
Ross and Drake had exchanged diss-track barbs earlier in 2024. Forbes reported that Ross released “Champagne Moments” in response to Drake’s “Push Ups,” which included a lyric widely understood to target Ross. That feud helps explain why reports framed the Vancouver incident in relation to Drake and Kendrick Lamar, but it does not establish who initiated the fight or why.

Forbes also reported that Drake’s account liked an Instagram post about the alleged attack. A reported social-media like is not evidence that Drake participated in, directed or was responsible for the altercation. Forbes said Ross had not directly addressed the incident at the time of its July 2 report; that was a time-specific note, preceding the statements reported elsewhere.
