Rick and Morty appear briefly in Space Jam: A New Legacy, returning Tasmanian Devil to the Looney Tunes after experimenting on him. Release-day posts quoted by ComicBook.com showed some viewers were delighted and surprised—but they are examples of individual reactions, not a measure of what the fandom as a whole thought.
What happens in the Rick and Morty cameo?
Rick and Morty arrive in their spaceship with Taz, whom they say they had been experimenting on. Morty is horrified by what he saw; Rick, apparently done trying to make sense of Taz, returns him to the Looney Tunes. The moment helps bring Taz into the Tune Squad. ComicBook.com described the cameo on July 16, 2021.
When does the scene appear?
A separate ComicBook.com report places the scene just before the 41-minute mark. Treat that as approximate: runtimes and playback offsets can differ by version and platform.
Why did some viewers react so enthusiastically?
The crossover was a surprise, and the release-day posts ComicBook.com quoted included “RICK AND MORTY ARE IN SPACE JAM LETS GOOOOOOO” and “rick and morty having a speaking role inthe new space jam made me go into shock.” Those posts capture excitement and surprise from individual viewers. They are not a poll, a count of overall sentiment, or evidence that all fans reacted the same way.

Was the cameo part of a universally loved film?
No broad conclusion about the cameo follows from the selected posts. In its July 19, 2021 discussion of the film overall, TIME reported an A- CinemaScore exit-poll grade while its panelists criticized the film’s extensive use of references and Warner Bros. properties. That grade concerns the whole movie, not the Rick and Morty scene, and TIME is the source for the figure here.

The sources cited here describe the scene and report viewer reactions, but do not provide a verified explanation from a cast member, filmmaker, Warner Bros. representative, or standards body about why the cameo was chosen.
