A photo of Rey Mysterio without his mask was reported as the final image in a 10-photo Instagram carousel shared by fellow WWE wrestler Dragon Lee. Athlon Sports reported the image on October 1, 2026, but the original Instagram post was not independently verified for this article, so its details should be understood as reported rather than directly confirmed.
What the report says about the photo
Athlon Sports reported that Dragon Lee shared a 10-photo Instagram carousel featuring himself with other wrestlers. According to the report, the last image showed Mysterio unmasked, wearing glasses and a T-shirt bearing his name. Athlon also reported that Lee captioned the carousel “Just Fire 🔥.” Read Athlon Sports’ report.
The image was presented as part of Lee’s social-media carousel—not as a WWE storyline announcement or a WWE-produced reveal. Because the original post was not directly checked, the carousel’s contents and caption remain details attributed to Athlon Sports.
Why an unmasked image draws attention
Mysterio’s mask is closely associated with his wrestling identity. WWE described it as “an important piece of his legacy” in the description for its 2018 video, 5 Superstars who unmasked Rey Mysterio: WWE List This! That context helps explain the interest in a photo reportedly showing him without it; it does not make the Dragon Lee image an official WWE production. See WWE’s video and description.
