If your goal is to loop prerecorded video on YouTube around the clock, choose a cloud service built for continuous playback—not just a multistreaming relay. StreamNeo is the first option to consider for an always-on YouTube stream from uploaded videos: it runs in the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Gyre is another cloud-looping option. Restream is more relevant when you want to send a live feed to YouTube and other destinations; its reviewed documentation does not establish a native prerecorded-video looping feature.

Those are different jobs. YouTube’s own encoder catalog lists Gyre for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams, while Restream’s documentation describes YouTube connection, duration, and archiving behavior. For a local encoder such as OBS, the stream instead depends on your own computer, power, and internet connection.

Which Restream alternative fits a 24/7 YouTube stream?

Start with what must stay live. If you need uploaded documentaries or other prerecorded videos played in a loop while your computer is off, use a cloud looping service. If you need to relay a live encoder feed to several platforms, Restream may suit that workflow, but confirm its current features before treating it as a prerecorded playlist tool. If you want direct control and can keep equipment running, use a local encoder.

Option Best fit What is established What to check
StreamNeo Uploaded videos played continuously on YouTube without leaving a computer on Cloud looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot Storage needs, number of slots, and billing term
Gyre Cloud-based continuous streaming of prerecorded material Upload files, arrange a looping playlist, schedule it, and stream continuously; YouTube’s encoder catalog lists Gyre Current plan price, stream capacity, storage, and output options
Restream A YouTube connection within a multistreaming workflow YouTube channel integration; its help page describes archive and duration behavior, not a native prerecorded loop Destination needs, restart cadence, and whether a complete VOD will be archived
Local encoder Direct control with a computer or hardware encoder you can keep online YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders, recommends RTMPS, and provides encoder settings guidance Power, network continuity, hardware/software capability, and configuration

1. StreamNeo: cloud playback for uploaded videos

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops the material from the cloud. The same plan includes one always-on stream, playlists and 24/7 looping, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, support, and 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots. There are no quality tiers: the video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps. Learn more at StreamNeo.

2. Gyre: another cloud looping service

Gyre’s published workflow is to upload videos, arrange a playlist, schedule the stream, and let its cloud service loop the content. Its official page displayed a seven-day trial and monthly plans at $49, $99, and $169 when accessed on October 3, 2026; the page shows that stream capacity and storage vary by plan. These figures and features can change, so check the current page before subscribing. YouTube lists Gyre in its encoder catalog, but that listing is not an independent reliability comparison.

3. Restream: useful for a different job

Restream’s reviewed help pages explain how to add a YouTube channel and describe stream duration and archiving. They do not establish that Restream natively loops uploaded videos as a 24/7 playlist. Consider it when your workflow is a live encoder feed sent to multiple destinations, and verify current product capabilities against your specific need.

4. Local encoder: keep the stream on your own equipment

A software encoder such as OBS or a standalone hardware encoder sends the outgoing video from equipment you operate. YouTube supports both categories. This gives you direct configuration control, but a 24/7 stream depends on the encoder, power, and internet connection staying available. YouTube’s encoder overview explains the setup and verified encoder catalog.

Check YouTube eligibility before choosing or troubleshooting

YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. The first activation can take up to 24 hours, and YouTube’s cited help page says streamers must be at least 16. A Restream help page likewise says initial activation may take up to 24 hours and that the channel owner—not a manager or editor account—must authorize the channel. Check YouTube’s live-streaming requirements before configuring an encoder.

Continuous streaming remains subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and YouTube can restrict live-stream access. Looping a documentary does not by itself establish eligibility for monetization, recommendations, or a full archive. Review current copyright, reused-content, monetization, and advertiser-suitability rules for your channel and material before launch; the cited sources do not settle those channel-specific questions.

Understand the 24-hour and 12-hour limits correctly

YouTube has no fixed live-stream duration limit in the cited guidance, but that does not mean every service or archive supports a stream of unlimited length.

  • Restream service maintenance: Restream warns that its servers may be restarted for maintenance during streams exceeding 24 hours and suggests restarting every 24 hours. This is Restream guidance, not a YouTube duration cap. See Restream’s duration guidance.
  • YouTube archiving through Restream: Restream says it archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. Do not assume a 24/7 broadcast will produce one complete VOD. This is Restream’s description of archive behavior, not an independently tested result. See Restream’s YouTube help page.
  • Scheduled YouTube events: Restream says a YouTube scheduled event can be started early or late without a timing restriction. That addresses event start time, not uninterrupted service uptime. See Restream’s scheduled-stream guidance.

Configure a local encoder for YouTube

If you choose a local encoder, use YouTube’s current settings guidance rather than copying a bitrate from an unrelated preset. The appropriate bitrate depends on the resolution and frame rate you select. YouTube recommends RTMPS for the connection; the encoder settings page provides its resolution, frame-rate, and bitrate recommendations. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.

  • What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
  1. Confirm live access: verify that the channel is eligible and that live streaming has been enabled. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
  2. Choose the stream workflow in YouTube Studio: create or select a live stream and obtain its stream key. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your channel.
  3. Connect the encoder: select YouTube or a custom RTMPS destination as supported by your encoder, then enter the stream key. YouTube’s encoder guide covers software and hardware encoder workflows.
  4. Set output: choose a resolution and frame rate your source and encoder can sustain, then use the corresponding bitrate guidance from YouTube. Avoid raising output settings beyond the source material’s actual quality.
  5. Preview before going live: check the picture, audio, and connection status in YouTube Studio, then start the broadcast. For a 24/7 local setup, verify that the machine will not sleep and that its power and network can remain available.

Troubleshoot the failures most likely to stop a continuous stream

  • Live option is unavailable: check channel verification, restrictions during the previous 90 days, age eligibility, and first-time activation status before changing encoder settings.
  • YouTube does not accept the stream: confirm the channel owner authorized the connection, the correct stream key is in use, and the encoder is using the intended YouTube/RTMPS destination. If a key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
  • Video looks poor or drops frames: compare the selected resolution and frame rate with the matching bitrate guidance on YouTube’s settings page. Also check whether the source, encoder, and local connection can sustain those settings.
  • A Restream stream runs beyond a day: account for Restream’s maintenance warning and planned 24-hour restart cadence; do not mistake it for a YouTube-imposed limit.
  • The archive is incomplete or missing: a stream reaching 12 hours or more falls outside the under-12-hour archive behavior described by Restream. Plan a separate recording or shorter sessions if a complete VOD matters.
  • A scheduled event starts at an unexpected time: Restream’s help says YouTube events can be started early or late without a timing restriction. Check the selected event and destination rather than assuming event timing alone guarantees continuous playback.
  • Cloud playback stops after a YouTube disconnect: distinguish the platform connection from the playlist itself. StreamNeo includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream; for other services, check their current recovery behavior rather than assuming it.

Or let it run in the cloud

For prerecorded YouTube streams, the simple workflow is: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer does not need to stay on at home; StreamNeo loops the upload from the cloud, streams at any quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
