Renée Zellweger and Ant Anstead met while filming Celebrity IOU: Joyride in 2021. They kept their relationship largely private as it became public that summer. In July 2026, Anstead said they were happy without the pressure of a marriage label; he did not announce wedding plans.
How Renée Zellweger and Ant Anstead met
The pair met on Celebrity IOU: Joyride, the car-focused spin-off of Celebrity IOU, while Zellweger appeared on the show in 2021. The episode honored brothers who had cared for her friend and former publicist Nanci Ryder. Accounts differ on whether filming took place in April or June, so the month is not clear from the available reporting.

Anstead later recalled Zellweger’s hands-on work during filming: “Renée is a hands-on car girl. She used a grinder to cut metal, she was welding, she was on the spanners.” That description refers to her work on the show.
When their relationship became public
Dating reports appeared in June 2021. Anstead acknowledged in an August interview that the two had become close, and on September 16, 2021, he posted a photo with Zellweger on Instagram. Those public moments established the relationship’s visibility, though the couple did not turn it into a highly publicized romance.

Why they keep their relationship private
Their relationship has generally stayed out of the spotlight. In 2022, Zellweger told The Sunday Times that she paid little attention to gossip and social media. Anstead has likewise said he preferred to keep the relationship private. Public coverage has described family integration, but it does not establish their current household or living arrangements.
Anstead has three children from previous relationships. The couple’s privacy means that public reports about family life should not be taken as a full account of how they organize it day to day.

Have Renée Zellweger and Ant Anstead said they are getting married?
No public wedding announcement is established by their reported comments. In a July 2026 interview with The Telegraph, quoted by ELLE, Anstead said: “I still believe in marriage, but right now we’re really happy. We don’t need the pressure of a label.” That is his statement at the time, not confirmation of a private plan or a later decision.
In April 2026, Anstead celebrated five years together by posting a photo recalling their first meeting on the show. The anniversary post marked the length of their relationship as he described it publicly; it did not announce an engagement.
