Why Rodriguez says fatherhood matters to him
Rodriguez has connected his commitment to being a father with his own childhood. In a March 2025 interview, he recalled that his father left when he was 10 and said he had decided at age 11 or 12 that, if he had the opportunity to become a father, it would be his number-one priority. Telemundo reported his comments in Spanish.
He also said he sought his daughters’ approval before making his documentary. In a November 2025 report on his appearance on The View, Parade quoted Rodriguez saying he did not want to proceed without their “co-signing.” Parade reported that the daughters encouraged him to make it “raw” and “real.”
