The indictment contains accusations, not proof of guilt; the materials available do not establish the case’s current disposition as of October 4, 2026.
What was Jayson Scott charged with?
The Queens District Attorney’s Office announced on June 25, 2024, that Scott had been arraigned on a seven-count indictment. Prosecutors charged him with first- and second-degree murder, four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree reckless endangerment. These are charges, not findings by a court. Queens District Attorney’s Office announcement
What do prosecutors allege?
Prosecutors alleged that Scott was hired to kill Guillebeaux. That account is the prosecution’s allegation and should not be treated as an established fact. District Attorney Melinda Katz said in announcing the indictment: “We are charging the defendants with a cold-blooded killing on a public street. Deadly gun violence has no place in our neighborhoods and we will remain steadfast in getting illegal guns and those who use them off the streets of Queens.” Her statement describes the prosecution’s position, not a judicial finding. Who was killed, and when did the shooting happen?
The shooting occurred on June 7, 2021, in South Jamaica, Queens. The victim, Darius Guillebeaux, was 47. ABC News reported that he was found with gunshot wounds to his head and chest, taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, and pronounced dead there. ABC News report
