Remember Miranda is a mystery story by Rowena Akinyemi, published in the Oxford Bookworms Library as a Level 1 graded reader for learners of English. Cathy Wilson’s new job with the Harvey family brings her into a household still shaped by the death of its mother, Miranda—and the questions surrounding her fall.
What is Remember Miranda about?
Cathy Wilson travels to Norfolk to begin work caring for Tim and Susan Harvey. Their mother, Miranda, died two years earlier, but the family avoids explaining what happened. As Cathy gets to know the household and people connected to it—including Duncan Harvey, Miranda’s sister Juliet, and nearby farmer Nick—the family’s silences begin to look significant.
The central mystery is whether Miranda’s fatal fall was an accident. Her relationships, especially her connection with Nick, and the family’s divided memories of her gradually bring the question into focus.

Who killed Miranda? (Spoiler)
The hosted story text reveals that Mrs Harvey pushed Miranda down the stairs with her stick. Mrs Harvey says she meant to stop Miranda from leaving Duncan and the children, not to kill her. Duncan says he will contact the police, and Cathy decides to remain with the family. This plot detail is based on a third-party hosted copy, not an official publisher-hosted text.
