Rebecca Ferguson has ruled out Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds as the co-star she described yelling at her on a film set. She has not named the person, and the reporting does not establish their identity. Ferguson has said the story was about her experience and learning to stand up for herself—not identifying or publicly targeting the other actor.
Who did Ferguson rule out?
Ferguson initially clarified that the unnamed co-star was not Hugh Jackman or Tom Cruise. In later remarks, she also made clear that it was not Ryan Reynolds. The Independent reported on February 6, 2026, that Ferguson said: “I was f***ing furious when they were slagging off Ryan Reynolds. I loved working with him. He was f***ing amazing.” The Independent and TheWrap both report that Cruise, Jackman and Reynolds were not the person she described.
Those exclusions do not identify the co-star. Naming another actor would be speculation: the reports do not confirm who it was.
What did Ferguson say happened on set?
On a 2024 appearance on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Ferguson recounted that a co-star yelled at her in front of the crew while she was struggling with scenes. She said she left the set in tears, then confronted the person when she returned the next day. The Los Angeles Times reported that producers kept the actor on the project and that Ferguson continued filming without face-to-face scenes with them. These are details from Ferguson’s account and the newspaper’s reporting; they are not an independently documented finding about the incident. Los Angeles Times

Why has she not named the co-star?
Ferguson has said the story was about her own experience, not the other person’s identity. In remarks reported by The Independent, she reflected: “It wasn’t about the person. It was about me. It was so scary. I didn’t know then how to go, ‘Hey, can I talk to you privately?’ Now, I would want to believe that I could have taken this person aside.” She also said she had not intended to throw someone under the bus and described the experience as one that taught her to stand up for herself.

In the later remarks covered by TheWrap, Ferguson acknowledged that her own behavior during the conflict was not something she applauded. TheWrap quotes her saying, “I will shove someone under a bus in front of an entire crew to make a point,” followed by, “I don’t applaud my own behavior in that.” That reflection is part of her account, alongside her description of speaking up when she returned to work.
