Ravenwood Academy: A Wizard101 Story is a planned single-player prequel to Wizard101, set at the familiar school before the events of the MMO. What is Ravenwood Academy: A Wizard101 Story?
It is KingsIsle’s first single-player game and a prequel set in the Wizard101 Spiral. Players take the role of a student at Ravenwood Academy, encountering younger versions of familiar characters while balancing school life with investigations. It is not presented as a new Wizard101 MMO.
KingsIsle announced the game on April 11, 2024, as a narrative life sim and visual novel. Steam characterizes it as a single-player, storybook-style puzzle and adventure experience. The official game site also calls it a “storybook-style life sim where your choices matter.” KingsIsle’s game page and Steam’s full-game listing provide the publisher and store descriptions.
How do school life and the mystery fit together?
The announced routine divides each in-game day into four time slots. Players have to choose how to use that time among classes, investigations, mini-games and relationships, rather than expecting to pursue every activity or friendship at once.

The mystery storyline is organized around what KingsIsle calls “Crisis Incidents, Investigation Scenes, and Trials.” A case can involve gathering clues, interviewing witnesses and presenting evidence at a faculty hearing. Decisions and branching dialogue affect the scenes and endings players see.
What role do friendships and romance play?
Players can form friendships and rivalries, access optional scenes, and pursue possible romances. Relationship-building is described as a core objective, but the time-slot structure makes it selective: KingsIsle says players will not have the time or ability to build every relationship they might want.

Is Ravenwood Academy out yet?
No. As of October 8, 2026, Steam lists the full game as “Coming soon” and says it is not yet available. The listing gives neither a release date nor a price. Those details may change, so check the Steam page for the current status.

What happened to the demo?
KingsIsle announced a sneak peek demo for Steam and gamescom 2026, with Steam listing August 26, 2026 as its release date. The official announcement said the Steam demo would be available through August 30, 2026; that window has passed. The demo presents a short scenario in which the player meets classmates and investigates a broken statue. Its past availability does not establish that it can still be played now; check the official game page or Steam demo listing for any updated access information.

Who is the game likely to suit?
Based on the announced features, it is aimed at Wizard101 fans interested in the setting’s characters and earlier history, as well as players who enjoy scheduling activities, investigating mysteries and making social choices. The four-slot day creates a trade-off between competing priorities; this is not described as a game where every activity or relationship can be completed in one run.
For now, the clearest way to follow the release is the Steam store page, where the game is listed as coming soon and can be wishlisted. No confirmed editions, prices or alternative platforms are listed in the reviewed store materials.
