Their connection on screen is also family-related in a different sense: Hero played the younger Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, while Ralph played the adult Lord Voldemort across the franchise. The two never played the same version of the character in the same role, so “both starred as Voldemort” is only accurate if “Voldemort” is read as the character’s whole life, from boy to Dark Lord.
The family tie
The BBC America profile of Ralph Fiennes identifies Hero Fiennes-Tiffin as his nephew and names him as the actor who played Tom Riddle in Half-Blood Prince. BBC America, “10 Things You Never Knew About Ralph Fiennes” is the clearest English-language statement of the kinship. A 2022 RTVE interview, published on 23 August 2022, also calls Hero Ralph’s nephew and describes his role as the young Voldemort. RTVE, “‘After’ Hero Fiennes Tiffin”
The family path runs through Hero’s mother, Martha Fiennes, who is Ralph’s sister. Beyond that shared family line, the sources available for this article do not describe how often the two work together, how close they are, or whether Ralph advised Hero on the part. Those details should not be assumed from the family relationship or from their shared franchise connection.
Their roles in the films
The two roles sit at different points in the same character’s life. Tom Riddle is Voldemort’s birth name and earlier identity, so the actors are linked through one character rather than through a matched scene or a shared performance.

| Ralph Fiennes | Lord Voldemort (adult Dark Lord) | Harry Potter film franchise | Wizarding World official feature |
The Wizarding World’s official feature on the franchise’s actors describes Ralph’s role as Lord Voldemort across the series. Wizarding World, “Actors of the Wizarding World Part Three: The household names” The sources do not describe a scene in which both actors appear together as the same character, so avoid describing one.
What Ralph Fiennes has said about the role
The Wizarding World feature quotes Daniel Radcliffe discussing Ralph’s work: “Ralph genuinely scared me for a few years.” That remark concerns Ralph’s effect on his co-star in the role, not Hero or the family relationship.

The same page reproduces Ralph’s description of playing Voldemort: “It can be thrilling and quite freeing to play, because all the rules disappear.” The page attributes the remark to Fiennes and references his comments to The Guardian. The original interview was not checked for this article, so treat the wording as the one published on the franchise page rather than a verified transcript of the newspaper piece.
