Qué ocurrió la noche del derrumbe
El techo de la discoteca Jet Set, en Santo Domingo, se desplomó durante la madrugada del 8 de abril de 2025, mientras actuaba Rubby Pérez. El informe técnico preliminar citado por Diario Libre sitúa el colapso a las 12:44 a. m.
La explicación técnica es objeto de controversia: los peritos vinculados a la acusación señalan una sobrecarga; el informe encargado por la defensa plantea que la estructura habría perdido capacidad con el tiempo. Son conclusiones periciales contrapuestas, no una determinación judicial final.
Qué sostiene el informe preliminar sobre la sobrecarga
El informe preliminar atribuyó la falla a cargas que habrían excedido la capacidad de las vigas postensadas, especialmente en los ejes H y J, cerca de la esquina sureste. Enumeró cuatro capas de mortero —37,5 centímetros en total—, además de equipos de aire acondicionado, tinacos, luminarias, casetas y otros elementos añadidos. La carta de entrega del informe, firmada por el ingeniero Leonardo de Jesús Reyes Madera, afirma: “Las cargas a las que fue sometido el techo colapsado sobrepasaron la capacidad de los elementos estructurales responsables de garantizar la seguridad del mismo”. La frase corresponde al informe técnico preliminar, no a un fallo judicial.

Ese análisis descartó en esa etapa un sismo, un fenómeno climático anormal y explosivos; dejó pendiente una conclusión final de los bomberos sobre un posible incendio. También recomendó demoler lo que quedaba de la estructura y no repararla; Diario Libre reproduce la indicación del documento: “No reparación, solo demolición y reconstrucción”.
Qué plantea el peritaje de la defensa
En mayo de 2026, un peritaje presentado por la defensa propuso otra secuencia: un deterioro interno gradual de las vigas postensadas, con corrosión y fracturas en los alambres de postensado, habría reducido su capacidad antes del colapso. El informe sostuvo que el peso no había aumentado significativamente durante los tres años anteriores, salvo por la membrana bituminosa, y cuestionó la metodología del modelo oficial. Es la evaluación de una parte del proceso, no una conclusión aceptada por un tribunal. Diario Libre resumió ese peritaje.

La discrepancia gira en torno a cómo se reconstruyen las cargas, la capacidad de las vigas y el momento en que pudo comenzar una pérdida de resistencia. La acusación se apoya en su interpretación de la carga sobre la estructura y en su modelación; la defensa cuestiona el modelo y pone el foco en el deterioro interno. Para resolver la diferencia, el tribunal tendría que valorar los métodos y pruebas de ambos peritajes junto con el resto de la evidencia.
Qué se sabía sobre la investigación y la responsabilidad penal
El 10 de abril de 2025, la Presidencia anunció que Onesvie coordinaría un equipo de especialistas nacionales e internacionales para el estudio técnico, y distinguió ese trabajo de la investigación penal, a cargo del Ministerio Público. El anuncio pidió evitar juicios apresurados. La Presidencia publicó el anuncio.

En septiembre de 2026, el Ministerio Público dijo que sus tres peritos mantenían la conclusión de sobrecarga y descartaban otras causas, entre ellas el incendio de 2023, un terremoto, una explosión y clima severo. Según Central de Noticias, la fiscalía presentaba pruebas en el proceso contra Antonio y Maribel Espaillat, imputados por homicidio involuntario y lesiones involuntarias. Una imputación no equivale a una declaración de culpabilidad.
En abril de 2026, el exempleado Gregory Adames declaró en audiencia que había enviado a los propietarios fotos y videos de problemas en el local, según Associated Press. Ese testimonio forma parte de lo presentado en el proceso; por sí solo no demuestra que los acusados conocieran un riesgo específico ni establece responsabilidad penal.
