Qué decía la frase y qué cambió
«+57» incluía la frase «una mamacita desde los fourteen». Quienes criticaron la letra señalaron que podía describir como atractiva a una joven desde los 14 años y objetaron otros comentarios sexualizantes de la canción. Esa fue la lectura de los críticos; no debe confundirse con una intención confirmada por los artistas.
La modificación sustituyó «fourteen» por «eighteen», es decir, cambió la edad de 14 a 18 años. People en Español informó el 13 de noviembre de 2024 que la nueva letra estaba disponible en Spotify. Associated Press también reportó una nueva versión en YouTube. Esas noticias documentan la disponibilidad en esas plataformas en ese momento, no el catálogo actual de todos los servicios.
Qué dijo Karol G sobre la controversia
El 11 de noviembre de 2024, Karol G publicó una disculpa. Dijo que buscaba celebrar la unión entre los artistas y hacer bailar a su público, y sostuvo que la letra se había sacado de contexto. A la vez, reconoció las críticas y asumió responsabilidad. En el comunicado reproducido por EFE, escribió: «En este caso, desafortunadamente, se sacó de contexto la letra de una canción con la que buscaba celebrar la unión entre los artistas y poner a bailar a mi gente».

También afirmó: «Ninguna de las cosas dichas en la canción tienen la dirección que le han dado, ni se dijo desde esa perspectiva pero escucho, me hago responsable y me doy cuenta que todavía tengo mucho por aprender». La explicación de la artista sobre su intención no elimina las objeciones a cómo se entendió la frase. EFE reprodujo el comunicado el 11 de noviembre; El País América Colombia cubrió la respuesta ese mismo día.

El título de la canción alude al prefijo telefónico internacional de Colombia. El tema reunió a Karol G con artistas de la escena urbana colombiana; la cobertura de EFE menciona a Feid, Maluma, J Balvin, Ryan Castro y Blessd, y El País también incluye a DFZM y Ovy on the Drums.

Qué resolvió el tribunal colombiano
La controversia tuvo un capítulo judicial posterior a la disculpa y al cambio de letra. AP informó el 8 de abril de 2025 que un alto tribunal colombiano determinó que la canción vulneró derechos de niños y niñas y ordenó a los intérpretes mencionados abstenerse de publicar música que vulnere los derechos de niños, niñas y adolescentes. El fallo es distinto de la petición legislativa inicial de retirar la canción de las plataformas.
La cobertura de AP atribuyó al tribunal esta explicación: «Sexualizing minors reduces them to becoming objects of desire, and exposes them to risks that can affect their development». En español: «Sexualizar a menores los reduce a objetos de deseo y los expone a riesgos que pueden afectar su desarrollo» (traducción).
