For a practical starting point, use 1080p at 30 fps with H.264 at YouTube’s recommended 10 Mbps, or 720p at 30 fps at 4 Mbps. PRISM’s general guidance is less demanding, so use YouTube’s codec-specific recommendations when setting the encoder. Test with representative audio and motion before going live, then watch YouTube’s stream health.
How much Jio Fiber upload speed do you need?
Your upload connection carries the live video from PRISM to YouTube. A plan’s download speed alone does not answer whether it can sustain a broadcast. Jio’s comparison page lists symmetric upload and download tiers of 30, 100 and 150 Mbps, while plan availability and offers can vary by location. Those advertised figures are not a test of your individual line. Jio Fiber Plans Comparison
Jio’s all-India wireline QoS report for the quarter ending September 2025 lists offered typical upload speeds of 24 Mbps for the 30 Mbps tariff, 80 Mbps for 100 Mbps, 120 Mbps for 150 Mbps, 240 Mbps for 300 Mbps and 400 Mbps for 500 Mbps. Its 90th-percentile measured upload figures for those tariffs are 29, 92, 136, 276 and 456 Mbps, respectively. These are report-period aggregates, not a promise about a particular subscriber’s connection. Jio Broadband (Wireline) QoS report, September 2025
For a 1080p H.264 stream, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps at 30 fps or 12 Mbps at 60 fps. A measured upload rate comfortably above the selected stream bitrate leaves more room for normal variation than a connection operating close to the target. No plan tier guarantees stable performance at your home: measure from the location and device you will stream from, and test at a representative time. YouTube recommends running a speed test to check upload bitrate. YouTube encoder settings and bitrate guidance

Choose YouTube settings for your resolution and codec
Set resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate as a group. YouTube’s recommendations differ by codec; PRISM’s general bitrate advice is useful context, but it should not replace the platform’s codec-specific table. The following are YouTube’s cited recommendations for H.264 and AV1/H.265:
| Output | H.264 bitrate | AV1 or H.265 bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 240p–720p at 30 fps | 4 Mbps | 3–8 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps | 3–8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps | 3–8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 12 Mbps | 4–10 Mbps |
| 1440p at 30 fps | 15 Mbps | Not stated in the cited YouTube guidance |
| 1440p at 60 fps | 24 Mbps | Not stated in the cited YouTube guidance |
| 4K at 30 fps | 30 Mbps | Not stated in the cited YouTube guidance |
| 4K at 60 fps | 35 Mbps | Not stated in the cited YouTube guidance |
These figures are YouTube guidance, not a guarantee of stream quality or a statement that every codec is available in every PRISM configuration. Confirm the currently applicable YouTube and PRISM options before using a codec other than H.264. YouTube encoder settings and bitrate guidance

Practical starting points
- 1080p, 30 fps, H.264: Set 10 Mbps if your measured upload and computer can sustain it. This is a reasonable starting point for documentary material that does not require 60 fps.
- 720p, 30 fps, H.264: YouTube lists 4 Mbps for 240p–720p at 30 fps. Choose this when bandwidth or computer headroom is limited.
- 1080p, 60 fps, H.264: Use 12 Mbps only if testing shows adequate, stable upload and system performance.
- Higher resolutions or frame rates: Use the corresponding YouTube recommendation and verify that the measured connection and computer can maintain it without dropped frames.
PRISM’s general guidance
PRISM’s FAQ recommends 30 fps and keyframes every 1–2 seconds for normal broadcasting. Its broad bitrate suggestions are 1–2 Mbps for 360p, 2–4 Mbps for 720p and 4–6 Mbps for 1080p. These general figures differ from YouTube’s H.264 recommendations—for example, YouTube lists 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. When choosing a YouTube output, prioritize the relevant YouTube codec, resolution and frame-rate recommendation, and check PRISM’s current controls. PRISM Live Studio FAQ
Set up and test PRISM before going live
- Measure the connection at the streaming location. Run an upload speed test from the computer and network you will use. Repeat at a time representative of the planned broadcast; a plan’s advertised rate is not your measured capacity.
- Select the YouTube output. In PRISM, configure the destination as YouTube and choose the resolution and frame rate you intend to use. Exact menu labels can vary with PRISM version and platform; consult PRISM’s current controls rather than relying on an outdated path.
- Match encoder settings to YouTube’s guidance. Select an available codec, then set its recommended bitrate for the chosen resolution and frame rate. For ordinary 1080p documentary footage, 30 fps is a sensible starting point; use 1–2 second keyframes in line with PRISM’s general guidance.
- Run a representative test. Before the real broadcast, include the kind of audio and movement the stream will contain. Check the video and sound, and confirm the connection and computer remain stable at the intended settings.
- Monitor YouTube stream health during the event. Watch for health warnings and messages rather than assuming a successful connection means the stream remains healthy. YouTube recommends checking stream health and reviewing messages while live. YouTube live encoder settings
What to change when the stream is unstable
High resolution, bitrate and frame rate can increase demands on both the network and the computer. PRISM recommends lowering output demands when performance is poor. Make one change at a time where practical, then test again so you can identify what resolved the problem. PRISM desktop performance guide

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- YouTube reports insufficient or unstable upload: Recheck upload speed at the streaming location. Lower bitrate first, or move to a lower resolution or frame rate that your measured connection can sustain.
- Video stutters or frames drop while upload seems adequate: The computer may be under strain. Reduce resolution, bitrate or FPS, then test again. PRISM identifies higher output settings as a possible source of system and network strain.
- Quality falls when conditions change: If PRISM offers adaptive bitrate for your setup, it can adjust bitrate and FPS as network conditions change. PRISM notes that enabling it may reduce image quality in exchange for a more stable broadcast. PRISM Live Studio FAQ
- The plan speed looks high but the broadcast struggles: The plan figure does not establish the throughput or stability of your individual connection at broadcast time. Measure and test the actual setup, then select a less demanding output if needed.
