Priscilla Kelly defended a controversial wrestling spot after a clip from her December 30, 2018 match near Los Angeles went viral. She said the performance was fake entertainment at a 21+ bar show, meant as a joke—not an attempt to shock the world—and argued that reactions to it reflected a double standard about sexuality in wrestling.
What happened in the viral Priscilla Kelly tampon video?
Kelly wrestled Tuna at a Suburban Fight Pro Wrestling event near Los Angeles on December 30, 2018. In a fan-posted clip that circulated online in early January, Kelly pulled an object presented in reports as a bloody tampon from her ring gear and put it into Tuna’s mouth. The clip was part of a scripted wrestling performance; the reporting does not establish that the object was a real used tampon or contained menstrual blood.
The unusual spot quickly drew attention beyond the local event. Wrestling Inc. reported on the match and its online spread in its January 5, 2019 roundup of wrestlers’ reactions.
What did Priscilla Kelly say about the clip?
Her first response: wrestling is fake entertainment
On January 5, Kelly answered the criticism by emphasizing the performance context: “Hey guys. Ya know, it’s all fake. 21+ show with a bar. Can’t take life so serious all the time.” Her point was that viewers should understand the clip as an outrageous wrestling spot at an adults-only bar show, rather than treat it as a literal act.

Her argument about gendered reactions
The next day, Kelly framed part of the backlash as a possible double standard: “A penis is funny and awesome. A vagina is disgusting and trashy. #Equality?” That was her argument about how audiences respond to sexualized material involving women; it does not establish that every critic objected for the same reason.
She said the idea was intended as a joke
In a January 9 Wrestling Inc. recap of her appearance on The Shining Wizards podcast, Kelly said she had thought of the idea months earlier and waited for the right opportunity. She said she wanted it to be funny, not to shock the world, and did not expect footage from a bar show to circulate so widely. She acknowledged that some viewers would find it disgusting, while objecting to criticism that attacked her character as a person.

Kelly also described the action as a stunt and said, “There’s no cruelty behind my actions, and I think that is the most important aspect.” That is her account of her intent, not independent confirmation of every participant’s experience. Her comments were reported in Wrestling Inc.’s January 9 recap.
Why did the wrestling tampon video prompt such divided reactions?
The debate involved more than whether the spot was shocking. Some wrestlers objected to its taste and to what they saw as a poor substitute for in-ring storytelling. Others defended performers’ freedom to use provocative material and let audiences decide whether it worked.

- Criticism of the spot: Gail Kim called the segment a disgrace and argued that wrestling should tell a story in the ring. Jim Ross called it “Embarrassing,” and Tessa Blanchard said she was disgusted.
- Support for artistic freedom: Joey Ryan defended the freedom to make the choice and let the audience respond, while Tommy Dreamer voiced support.
- Criticism that became personal: Brian G. James, known as Road Dogg, said the segment reflected on dignity and personal pride, and criticized Kelly personally. Wrestling Inc. reported that he later apologized for attacking her character while continuing to disagree with the spot. The apology addressed the personal attack; it was not an endorsement of the performance.
These positions distinguish three questions that were often blurred together: whether the spot was appropriate or effective, whether criticism reflected a gendered double standard, and whether it was fair to make judgments about Kelly as a person. The contemporaneous reactions were collected by Wrestling Inc..

The clip documented a provocative wrestling performance that spread far beyond the event where it took place. Kelly defended it as a joke and a stunt, while critics challenged its taste and value as wrestling. The available reporting supports describing the object as presented in the spot; it does not support claims that it was an actual used tampon or contained menstrual blood. Nor does Kelly’s stated intent settle how every person involved experienced the segment.
