The more specific detail about taking his children to school came from former rugby player Richie McCaw’s recollection of their conversation—not from Harry’s brief answer itself.
What did Prince Harry say about life in California?
An InStyle article republished by AOL reported on February 28, 2025, that Harry gave a short, positive reply when asked how life was going: “Well, life’s going on pretty good.” The article attributes the remark to Us Weekly; it does not provide an independently available transcript of the exchange. AOL’s republication of the InStyle report.

Where does the school-drop-off detail come from?
The concrete image of ordinary family life came from Richie McCaw, who recounted a conversation with Harry. As quoted in the report, McCaw said Harry was like: “Yeah, I can drop the kids off at school…without any issue.” McCaw described that freedom as something people might take for granted and referred to Harry’s “tough situation.” The school anecdote is therefore McCaw’s account of what Harry told him, relayed by the article—not a separate direct quote from the brief answer about how life was going. AOL/InStyle.
What family timeline does the report provide?
The article says Harry and Meghan moved from the United Kingdom to the United States in 2020 and then settled in California, Meghan’s home state. It identifies Archie as their son and says their daughter, Lilibet, was born in 2021. Those details provide context for McCaw’s reference to school drop-offs; they do not establish a broader or current account of the family’s routines. AOL/InStyle.

How does the Invictus Games reflection fit in?
The same report also carried a separate reflection from Harry on the decade since he founded the Invictus Games in 2014. It quoted him saying: “Today I have the benefit of hindsight and experience, but I wouldn’t change any of it—except still wishing there were no need for the Invictus Games.” That comment concerns the Games and the circumstances that make them necessary; it is distinct from his brief response about life in California.
