Prince Harry reportedly said Archie and Lilibet inherited their mother Meghan Markle’s thick hair. The remark comes from HELLO! chief content officer Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon’s account of speaking with Harry at the September 2024 WellChild Awards—not from a recorded interview or published transcript.
What Harry reportedly said about his children’s hair
In a first-person account published by HELLO! on October 8, 2024, Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon recounted Harry saying Archie and Lili had been “blessed with their mother’s thick hair.” She also described him marveling that Lili would not be long in being able to sit on her hair.
That wording is Vokes-Dudgeon’s sentence recounting the exchange, not a transcript or a direct quotation independently verified by a recording. Us Weekly’s report published the same day also attributed the account to Vokes-Dudgeon and placed the encounter ahead of the September 30 awards.
Where the comment fits—and what it does not establish
The anecdote was part of a conversation about Harry’s children, not a formal interview, hair-care recommendation, or product endorsement. The account names no products or routine, and the remark should not be treated as evidence about genetics.
#1 Best Overall
It is also separate from Harry’s better-known comment about the children’s red hair. During a January 2023 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he joked about the strength of the Spencer red-hair gene. The Independent’s January 12, 2023 coverage reports that exchange.
| Comment | Context | Trait discussed |
|---|---|---|
| Thick-hair remark, reported October 8, 2024 | HELLO! editor Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon’s account of speaking with Harry at the WellChild Awards | Hair thickness |
| Red-hair remark, reported January 12, 2023 | Harry’s televised appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert | Hair color |
Why the wording should stay attributed
Archie and Lilibet are rarely seen publicly, and their hair can appear different across photographs and lighting. HELLO!’s account is the basis for the description, so it is best understood as a reported personal remark rather than a definitive assessment of the children’s appearance.
