Speaking about the effect of the dispute on his wife, he said: “They have made my wife’s life an absolute misery.” Meghan Markle was the subject of his testimony; the contemporaneous coverage does not identify her as a witness at that appearance.
What happened in court
Harry gave evidence in a lawsuit brought by seven claimants against Associated Newspapers, which publishes the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday. Reuters reported that Harry choked up while describing the emotional toll of the case. ITV also placed his remark about Meghan in his High Court testimony and reported the publisher’s position that it was for the judge to assess the evidence.
The phrase “appearance with Meghan Markle” can be misleading: the reports describe Harry appearing as a witness and speaking about his wife, not the two appearing as co-witnesses.
What Harry said about Meghan
Harry said: “They have made my wife’s life an absolute misery.” He was describing the impact he attributed to the dispute on Meghan. The reported statement is testimony about his view of that impact, not a judicial finding about the publisher’s conduct.

Why Harry was testifying against the Daily Mail’s publisher
The claimants alleged that Associated Newspapers’ coverage involved unlawful information gathering. Reuters reported that Harry’s legal team said the case centered on 14 articles they alleged were produced through such gathering. Associated Newspapers disputed the allegations and said its journalists had legitimate sources.
Those are opposing positions in the lawsuit. The testimony coverage reports the claims and the publisher’s response; it does not establish that either side’s account was proved or disproved.

Harry’s testimony documents what he said in court on January 21, 2026, and how he appeared while discussing the case’s effect on Meghan. The contemporaneous reports cited here do not establish a later final judgment or procedural update, so the allegations should not be described as a court’s conclusion.
