For a first watch, see the Predator films in theatrical release order. There is no studio-mandated “correct” order: release order is the clearest way to follow how the franchise unfolded, while chronological order is an optional approach that rearranges stories by setting. The list below includes the two Alien crossover films; skip the marked entries if you want only the stand-alone Predator movies.
Predator movies in release order
This is the recommended first-watch path. Release dates and film details below are from the official 20th Century Studios film listings where available; Hulu also presents release-date and chronology orders as viewing options in its Predator viewing guide.
- Predator (1987) — The original jungle hunt. The studio lists a June 12, 1987 release, a 1-hour-43-minute runtime and an R rating.
- Predator 2 (1990) — Moves the hunt to Los Angeles. The studio lists a November 21, 1990 release, a 1-hour-48-minute runtime and an R rating.
- Alien vs. Predator (2004) — A crossover with the Alien series. Include it for a broad franchise watch; it is not a stand-alone Predator film.
- Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) — Continues the crossover. It is likewise optional if you are following only the stand-alone Predator films.
- Predators (2010) — Human combatants are taken to an alien game preserve. The studio lists a July 9, 2010 release.
- The Predator (2018) — Follow it after Predators in release order.
- Prey (2022) — Set among the Comanche Nation 300 years before the original film. The studio lists an August 5, 2022 release, a 1-hour-40-minute runtime and an R rating.
- Predator: Killer of Killers (2025) — An animated anthology following human warriors from different historical periods. The studio lists a June 6, 2025 release, a 1-hour-30-minute runtime and an R rating.
- Predator: Badlands (2025) — A future-set story on a remote planet. The studio lists a November 7, 2025 release, a 1-hour-47-minute runtime and a PG-13 rating.
Should you include the Alien vs. Predator films?
That depends on what you mean by “every Predator film.” Broad franchise guides include Alien vs. Predator and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, so they appear in the full release-order list above. For a Predator-only viewing path, omit those two crossovers and continue with Predators (2010). This is a scope choice, not a different required order.
Predator movies in chronological order
Chronological order groups films by story setting rather than by when audiences first saw them. It changes the experience, especially by bringing the historical prequel Prey forward. But the official material cited here does not provide one fully dated timeline for every film, so chronology is approximate where a precise placement is not established.

Which viewing order should you choose?

Availability varies by title, country and date. At the time of the studio listings cited here, Predator was listed for streaming and for Blu-ray, DVD and digital purchase; Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers were listed as streaming on Hulu; and Predator: Badlands was listed as streaming on Hulu and available digitally and on Blu-ray.
