Pornhub’s Model Program added stricter checks for co-performer identity and consent: since September 3, 2024, new videos have required approved IDs and proof of consent for every featured co-performer before publication. The platform also set June 30, 2025, as the deadline for older videos to meet its requirements to remain published. These are platform-described safeguards, introduced against the backdrop of serious findings by Canada’s privacy regulator about Aylo’s earlier practices.
What changed in Pornhub’s Model Program?
Pornhub’s August 5, 2024 update says Models were already required to keep identification and signed release-form records for co-performers. The changes concerned how those records were submitted and checked before content could be published.
- January 23, 2024: Pornhub began requiring proof of consent—such as a signed release form—to be submitted and approved when a new co-performer was added to a Model account.
- September 3, 2024: New videos could be published only after the ID and proof of consent for every featured co-performer had been submitted and approved.
Pornhub’s December 2024 guidance says the documentation is required for all scenes, but IDs and release forms need to be added only once for each co-performer on a Model account. The platform also says it removed the address field from new co-performer submissions on November 22, 2024, citing Model feedback and a goal of reducing and protecting sensitive information. How can creators document a co-performer’s consent?
Pornhub describes two ways to provide missing consent documentation for an established co-performer: upload a completed release form or send a secure eSignature link. With the eSignature route, the co-performer verifies their own ID, completes a live face scan and digitally signs a release form. Pornhub says videos remain pending—not published—while required documentation is missing or awaiting approval.

Collaborators and tagging
Verified Models can use the Collaborators feature to accept collaboration requests and be tagged in new videos. This is part of the platform’s described workflow for connecting a co-performer’s verified account with content featuring them. Pornhub’s December 2024 workflow guidance
What happened to older videos after the deadline?
Pornhub’s 2025 update asked creators to check each co-performer’s ID and consent status and submit any missing records. It set June 30, 2025, as the point after which only videos meeting its current performer-ID and proof-of-consent requirements would remain published. In a September 29, 2025 post, the company said content that failed its verification standards had been disabled and removed by that date. Why did Canada’s privacy regulator scrutinize Aylo?
On February 29, 2024, Canada’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) said its investigation found that Aylo had allowed intimate images to be shared on its sites without the direct knowledge or consent of everyone depicted, contrary to Canadian privacy law. The regulator said Aylo often relied on uploaders’ attestations. In its audit, approximately 70% of uploaders who did not appear in the videos they uploaded failed to provide the promised proof of consent—identification and consent forms for all depicted people.
The OPC concluded that uploader attestations did not amount to reasonable efforts to ensure meaningful consent. It recommended seeking express, meaningful and valid consent directly from depicted individuals, verifying consent and age, removing content without valid consent, and simplifying takedown processes. These are the regulator’s findings and recommendations about Aylo’s earlier practices; they are not an independent audit of Pornhub’s later policy changes. OPC’s February 29, 2024 release

What did the Commissioner’s 2025 court application mean?
On March 3, 2025, the OPC said Aylo had changed some privacy and consent-verification practices during and after the investigation, but the Commissioner alleged those practices still did not ensure meaningful consent from everyone appearing in videos. The Commissioner applied to the Federal Court for an order requiring measures to obtain meaningful consent directly from all depicted individuals. That release reports an application, not a final court decision, and does not establish that the proceeding has ended. OPC’s March 3, 2025 release

In September 2025, Pornhub said Model Program content requires identity and consent verification for everyone featured, uploads receive technology and human-moderator review, and its verification and moderation processes exceed legal requirements. It also said free videos cannot be downloaded and fingerprinting helps prevent removed content from being re-uploaded. These are the company’s descriptions of its own safeguards, not independently verified outcomes or findings by the OPC. Pornhub’s September 29, 2025 statement
