La explicación de Ana Brenda Contreras
En una entrevista con Lourdes Stephen para Sal y pimienta, publicada por People en Español el 10 de marzo de 2014, Contreras dijo que ella y Amaya llevaban semanas sin ponerse de acuerdo en asuntos importantes y que se habían distanciado. Según explicó, se querían, pero no estaban listos para celebrar la boda en ese momento.
Contreras describió la decisión como una pausa, no como una separación inmediata: «Llegamos a un punto de crisis y decisivo en el que tuvimos que tomar esa dolorosa decisión [de] que no era una separación, simplemente era, no podemos celebrar ahorita esto». También dijo: «La verdad se volvió un poco más grande que nosotros».
Qué se sabía al anunciar la cancelación
La ceremonia religiosa estaba prevista para el 23 de noviembre de 2013 en San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. El anuncio inicial, emitido días antes, mencionó motivos personales sin detallarlos, según la retrospectiva de Revista Clase / El Universal. Esa falta de explicación en el comunicado no contradice lo que Contreras contó después en la entrevista.

Qué dijo sobre los rumores
En la entrevista, Contreras negó que hubiera habido una infidelidad y rechazó otros rumores que circulaban, incluidos los de un secuestro, una hacienda y un familiar enfermo. Son desmentidos de la actriz; no constituyen una verificación independiente de cada rumor.
La pausa no fue el desenlace final
En una declaración contemporánea recogida por Univision, Contreras dijo que la boda se había pospuesto, que todavía no había una nueva fecha y que seguían juntos. Esa afirmación corresponde a ese momento, después del aplazamiento.

Más adelante, un comunicado atribuido a Contreras anunció que ella y Amaya habían decidido separarse definitivamente y pidió respeto a su privacidad, según Univision. Por eso, la explicación de que no estaban preparados para celebrar describe la cancelación inicial, mientras que la ruptura definitiva fue un desenlace posterior.
