Pokémon Winds and Waves is the major reveal
The closing announcement introduced Pokémon Winds and Waves, identified in coverage as the tenth-generation mainline games. They are planned for a worldwide 2027 launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
The first footage showed a tropical-looking region with contrasting biomes, towns built around water and resort-style locations. Three starters were shown: Browt, Pombon and Gecqua. No more detailed release date, final title-language variations or additional Pokémon were established in the presentation coverage.
#1 Best Overall
- 50+ Pokemon Cards
- 5 Holos Guaranteed minimium per order
- 1 GX, EX, V, VMax, Full Art, Tag Team, or Secret Rare
What the reveal means
- This is the next numbered mainline generation rather than an expansion of an existing game.
- Switch 2 is the announced platform, so the presentation did not confirm a Nintendo Switch version.
- 2027 is the only release timing given; a month and day were not announced.
Pokémon Champions puts battles first
Pokémon Champions received an April 2026 release window on Switch, with an iOS and Android version planned later in the year. It was presented as the event’s dedicated competitive-battle focus, distinguishing it from the exploration and story-led games elsewhere in the lineup.
The presentation did not provide a specific April date or a final mobile launch date. Players who want a clearly dated Switch release have a window, while mobile players must wait for further scheduling.
Pokémon Pokopia launches on Switch 2
Pokémon Pokopia arrives on Switch 2 on March 5, 2026. New footage highlighted DJ Rotom, Chef Dente and visits to other players’ towns, reinforcing its social, creative and town-building angle.
That combination makes Pokopia the most family-oriented Switch 2 game in the presentation’s near-term schedule. Its multiplayer town visits are a feature shown in the presentation footage, not a separate online service announcement.

FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch
Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen launched on Switch on February 27, 2026, the same day as the presentation. Pokémon HOME support is one-way: Pokémon can move from these games into HOME and then onward to compatible titles, but Pokémon cannot be transferred back into FireRed or LeafGreen.
Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness
The GameCube spin-off Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness was announced for the Switch 2 Nintendo Switch Online library in March 2026. The announcement gives the month, but not a specific day or a separate purchase price.
Mega Garchomp Z in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Owners of the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A will receive content centered on Mega Garchomp Z. The presentation coverage did not state when this content becomes available.
30th-anniversary merchandise and the Pokémon TCG
Red and Blue Game Music Collection
The presentation opened with a physical jukebox styled like a classic Game Boy. Called the Pokémon Red and Blue Game Music Collection, it contains 45 cartridges of music from the original games. It is a collector-focused product rather than a new game announcement.

Anniversary trading-card set
A physical Pokémon Trading Card Game set celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary is planned for 2026. Nintendo Life reported that the intended launch is simultaneous worldwide in participating markets; the presentation did not establish a universal date for every territory or provide the set’s full card list.
Pokémon XP and the 2026 World Championships
Pokémon XP and the 2026 Pokémon World Championships will share San Francisco’s Chase Centre from August 28 through August 30, 2026. XP was described as an expo adding interactive and family-oriented activities alongside competition and merchandise, while the World Championships remain the franchise’s major organized-play event.
Holding both programs at the same venue and on the same weekend gives families and competitive attendees a single anniversary destination, but the announcement did not publish a detailed daily schedule.
