Pokémon cards are reported to return to U.S. McDonald’s Happy Meals from November 5 through December 9, 2026, but McDonald’s USA has not officially confirmed the dates or offer in the sources available as of October 8. The card list is also unknown. Japan’s official 2026 anniversary Happy Set was a separate toy promotion—and McDonald’s Japan explicitly said it would not include weekend card gifts.
When are Pokémon cards coming back to McDonald’s Happy Meals?
PokéBeach reported on September 27, 2026, that a U.S. Pokémon Trading Card Game Happy Meal promotion is planned for November 5 through December 9, 2026. The outlet says other countries may also take part, with dates varying by country. It labels the details preliminary and subject to change. Read PokéBeach’s report.
These are reported dates, not a finalized McDonald’s USA announcement. Treat the timing and offer as unconfirmed until the company posts its U.S. details.
Are the 30th anniversary Pokémon cards coming to the U.S.?
The report points to a U.S. promotion, but it does not provide an official U.S. confirmation or a complete checklist. PokéBeach says 15 cards are expected. It describes a four-card booster pack based on earlier promotions, with one holographic card and three non-holographic cards; it also notes that past holographic cards used confetti-pattern foil. Those pack details are the outlet’s reporting and reference to prior formats, not an official 2026 specification.

The card identities were not known when PokéBeach published its report. Its article also says customers may be able to choose between a Pokémon toy and a “Pokemon Essential Handbook”; a possible card-display toy was unconfirmed. None of those reported product details should be treated as settled until McDonald’s USA publishes its offer.
Does Japan’s 2026 Happy Set have Pokémon cards?
No. McDonald’s Japan’s official 2026 Pokémon Happy Set announcement described a toy promotion and expressly said there would be no weekend card gifts. The Japanese campaign offered 12 Pokémon toys in waves, with the run beginning August 7 and planned for about three weeks, subject to limited quantities. The toys were not selectable. - 3 Sealed Booster Packs + 1 Promo Card. 31 Cards Total
That Japanese offer is easy to confuse with the U.S. card report because both are tied to Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, but they are distinct promotions in different markets. Japan’s “Pokémon Summer McDonald’s” also marked the Japanese chain’s 55th anniversary. McDonald’s Japan linked Pokémon’s 30th anniversary to the February 27, 1996 release of Pokémon Red and Green. Japan’s announcement also set limits for the first three days: up to six Happy Sets per group per transaction, with third-party delivery sales paused during that period, subject to a McDelivery caveat. The company asked customers not to buy for resale or order more food than they could eat. These were Japan-specific terms, not evidence of U.S. restrictions.

What was in the previous U.S. Pokémon Happy Meal?
McDonald’s USA’s January 21, 2025 announcement said its limited-time Pokémon Happy Meal included a booster pack with four of 15 possible TCG cards, a poster, and a sticker sheet. Qualifying app orders also received a one-time code for Pokémon TCG Pocket rewards. That offer is useful context, but it does not establish the contents, card pool, or digital rewards for a 2026 promotion. Read McDonald’s USA’s 2025 announcement.
Why the Japan card promotion from 2025 made headlines
McDonald’s Japan canceled a separate Pokémon card promotion in 2025 after reports that resellers bought Happy Meals and discarded food. The Associated Press reported that the company apologized and discussed possible limits and online-order restrictions. That episode is relevant background, but it does not determine how McDonald’s USA will run a possible 2026 U.S. offer. Read the Associated Press report.

Where to check for confirmed U.S. details
Look for an announcement from McDonald’s USA or the U.S. Happy Meal page before relying on dates, card contents, or participation. Until then, the November–December schedule and 2026 card details remain preliminary reporting. If you collect the cards, a trading card binder can help keep a set together; it is not part of the reported promotion.
