What is Please Put Them On, Takamine-san about?
Takane Takamine is an academically gifted student who can reset events by removing her underwear. Koushi Shirota, her classmate, becomes responsible for keeping replacement underwear available and concealing how her ability works. The premise turns an intimate garment into the mechanism for time manipulation and makes Shirota’s assistance a condition imposed by Takamine rather than an equal partnership.

That setup is why reactions focus on more than nudity. Viewers are also responding to Takamine’s control over Shirota, the threat attached to his role and the question of whether the series treats that imbalance as comedy, erotic fantasy or something deliberately uncomfortable.
Why did the controversy grow?
Sexual content is built into the plot
The underwear-removal mechanic is not an occasional aside. It is the story’s central device, so sexualized situations recur as part of the narrative rather than appearing only as detachable fanservice. Australian classification records for the uncensored original identify strong nudity for episode 1 and nudity, sexual references and sexualised imagery for episode 12.

A mature premise received broad distribution
The series was released through widely available streaming channels while carrying material that regulators treated as adult-oriented. Prime Video presents it with an 18+ warning for nudity and sexual content. The resulting tension is straightforward: a title that can be discovered alongside mainstream anime is also built around content many viewers would expect to be clearly segregated by age and edition.
The relationship is ethically contentious
Shirota is compelled to maintain Takamine’s secret and her supply of replacement underwear. That threat-based arrangement gives the show an uncomfortable interpersonal core. Commentary has therefore debated artistic freedom, censorship, audience age and responsible distribution at the same time, rather than treating the issue as a simple dispute over whether a few frames were removed.

“Uncensored” is not a universal label for every online copy. Australian government records explicitly identify an uncensored original and assign mature-content classifications to episodes 1 and 12. Those records establish that an uncensored edition exists, but they do not prove that every platform or country carries it.

In practice, check the service’s country-specific page and the edition description immediately before watching. A title being available on Crunchyroll or listed through Prime Video does not, by itself, identify the cut in every territory.

Streaming
Crunchyroll’s editorial coverage identifies the series as available there, and Prime Video lists the 12-episode season with a Crunchyroll access route. Availability, subscription terms and the supplied version can change by country. Use the local listing, age warning and episode runtime as clues, not as proof that the stream is uncensored.
Physical release
The official website has published Blu-ray/DVD volume notices, including volumes 1, 2 and 3. Discs are the clearest physical-release route, but “Blu-ray” alone does not guarantee that a particular retailer’s import or regional edition contains the uncensored original. Confirm the publisher, region and contents before buying.
