What did Bon Jovi and The Offspring say about him?
Jon Bon Jovi remembered a loyal friend
Bon Jovi described Robert as a friend who was interested in people and music for their own sake, rather than their current popularity. “He was a loyal friend. He didn’t care if you were the fad or the fashion of the moment. He just cared,” the musician wrote, as quoted by The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Offspring praised his care for music and listeners
The band remembered Robert’s attention to the full community around a song: “What made him so great is that he truly cared about the music, the people who played it, and the people who listened to it.” The Offspring also called him one of its favorite interviewers. The group performed an acoustic set at WMMR’s studios in 2008, the same newsroom reported.

How Robert connected artists and Philadelphia listeners
Robert’s place at WMMR was not limited to introducing records or interviewing touring acts. The tributes point to the personal quality artists associated with him: a genuine interest in their work and in the people listening. His decades on the midday show gave those encounters a consistent home on Philadelphia radio.
He also supported local charitable events, including AIDS Walk Philly and MANNA’s Pie in the Sky fundraiser, according to PhillyVoice. Those commitments connected his public role as a broadcaster with organizations serving the community.
What is planned to memorialize Pierre Robert?
In March 2026, PhillyVoice reported that Friends of Rittenhouse Square had announced a bench memorial and that funds were being raised for a proposed mural. These were reported plans, not confirmation that either memorial had been completed. The report on the memorial plans describes the announcement and fundraising.
