Harris also died of ovarian cancer in 1991. At the 2014 Stand Up To Cancer telethon, Brosnan spoke about losing both his first wife and Charlotte. The Independent quoted him describing the impact of watching a loved one suffer as “an indelible part of your psyche.” He also said he had held Harris’s hand as ovarian cancer took her life and later held Charlotte’s hand before she died.

In those remarks, Brosnan called the illness “inherited.” That is his reported description; the cited coverage does not establish an independent medical finding about the cause of either woman’s cancer.
