Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard was Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s mother. For captioned pictures of the two together, start with published news reports that identify the scene and credit the image; for dated courtroom photographs, note that those show Gypsy in court rather than a collection of Dee Dee portraits.
Captioned pictures of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose together
Two published examples identify family photographs of Gypsy and her mother:
- Global News published a file photo captioned as Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Clauddine (Dee Dee) Blanchard posing together. The caption credits the Greene County Sheriff’s Office via Facebook.
- ABC News (Australia) published a photograph captioned as Gypsy hugging her mother, Clauddine Blanchard, with a small puppy. The image is credited to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
These are specific published examples, not evidence of a complete photo archive. Use the captions to confirm who appears and what the scene shows; do not treat an image as a verified family portrait if its caption does not establish that context.
Dated courtroom photographs are a different kind of image
The Associated Press’s parole coverage includes court photographs of Gypsy Rose, not a set of Dee Dee portraits. Its captions identify a Nov. 15, 2018 trial image credited to Nathan Papes/The Springfield News-Leader via AP, and July 5, 2016 court images credited to Andrew Jansen/The Springfield News-Leader via AP. These dates and credits help distinguish courtroom coverage from family snapshots.

How to evaluate an image before using it
When comparing search results, check four things:
- Subject and context: Is it a family snapshot, a news file photo, or a courtroom photograph?
- Provenance: Does the caption name a photographer, news service, or agency?
- Date and event: Is the image tied to a stated date or event, or is it undated?
- Reuse rights: Does the publisher or rights holder explicitly license reuse?
A caption or credit identifies provenance; it does not grant permission to republish. Follow the publisher’s or rights holder’s licensing process and preserve the photo credit when the terms require it.

No. TIME describes The Act as a fictionalized version of the story and identifies the 2017 HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest as a documentary about the case. They provide screen portrayals and documentary context, not verified archives of photographs of Dee Dee and Gypsy.
