Phillips was describing his uncle; the remarks were not a direct statement from the King or a medical assessment.
What Peter Phillips said about the King
Phillips, the son of Princess Anne and Charles’s nephew, spoke to Sky News Australia host Caroline Di Russo. He said: “He’s in good spirits. Ultimately, he’s hugely frustrated that he can’t get on and do everything that he wants to be able to do. But he is very pragmatic, he understands that there’s a period of time that he really needs to focus on himself,” as quoted by TIME.
Phillips added that Charles was “very keen to get back to a form of normality” and “probably frustrated that recovery is taking a little longer than probably he would want it to.” These words convey Phillips’s account of the King’s mood and outlook, not Charles’s own words.
When the comments were made
The interview remarks were reported on March 24, 2024. They describe the situation at that time and should not be read as a current health bulletin. Although an LBC page displays an update date of February 10, 2026, that page update does not make Phillips’s 2024 comments a new health update.

What was publicly known about Charles’s treatment
On February 5, 2024, Buckingham Palace announced that the King had an undisclosed form of cancer and was receiving regular treatment. Contemporaneous reports said doctors had advised him to postpone public-facing duties. The public information covered in those reports did not identify the cancer type, stage, or treatment regimen; those details should not be inferred.
The Palace’s medical information and Phillips’s remarks are different kinds of evidence: the former described the diagnosis and treatment in broad terms, while the latter was a family member’s characterization of Charles’s spirits and frustration.
