That breadth matters when remembering him through two prominent film titles. Big Trouble in Little China and The Golden Child were part of a much wider working career, not its full measure.
His memorable role in Big Trouble in Little China
Kwong played Rain, one of the elemental masters in John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China. The role is central to the way his film work is being remembered. Legacy identifies Rain as his best-known role, and the Television Academy and Apple TV also list the film among his credits.

His connection to The Golden Child
The Golden Child is another feature credit listed by both the Television Academy and Apple TV. The available biographical listings establish Kwong’s connection to the film, but do not consistently establish a character name, so it is best to describe it simply as one of his film credits.
What colleagues remembered
Legacy quoted Kwong’s friend, actor Wesley Thompson, recalling both his talent and his character: “Peter Kwong was a friend of mine, an actor of immense talent,” Thompson said. “But as a person he was extraordinary.”

Thompson also said that Kwong had called to arrange an evening together shortly before his death, adding, “My heart is heavy knowing this. I will always remember Peter as a warm and caring human being. Rest in peace, my friend.” This is Thompson’s personal remembrance as quoted by Legacy, not an official statement from Kwong’s family.
