Perfect Family is an eight-episode Hindi series about a family sent into therapy after a crisis involving an 11-year-old child. Nandini Ramnath’s review for Scroll.in, published November 28, 2025, finds its greatest strength in the performances and its candid look at how relatives hurt one another. Its recurring rows and cliffhanger ending, however, can make the family difficult company.
What is Perfect Family about?
The series follows the Karkarias, whose accumulated conflicts and denials come to a head after an incident at school involving 11-year-old Daani. The family is then required to attend counselling sessions with Megha, a counsellor played by Neha Dhupia.

The sessions bring several generations into the same room. Somnath and Kamla, played by Manoj Pahwa and Seema Pahwa, are resistant to psychiatry; their adult children and in-laws have emotional burdens of their own. Therapy becomes the frame through which the series exposes the strain beneath the family’s appearance of normality.
What works in the series?
Ramnath praises the show’s willingness to depict the damage family members do to one another, including the cost of keeping up a façade of normality. That directness gives the therapy premise its point: the sessions are not simply a device for delivering tidy lessons, but a setting in which old grievances and competing accounts can surface.

The review’s strongest praise is for the ensemble. Ramnath highlights the performances of Manoj and Seema Pahwa, Gulshan Devaiah, and Dhupia. She also singles out Girija Oak Godbole in quieter scenes and child actor Hirvaa Trivedi as Daani. The cast gives the family’s clashes and vulnerabilities their human texture.
What are the weaknesses?
The characters can be obnoxious, and arguments recur often enough to test the viewer’s patience. The very conflicts that make the series frank about family life can also leave scenes feeling repetitive. Ramnath additionally questions the cliffhanger ending, which may frustrate viewers looking for a more conclusive resolution.
Rank #2
That tension shapes the review’s overall view: the show balances a bracing portrayal of family pain with some optimism, but its characters are not always easy to spend time with.

For viewers interested in a Hindi family drama that takes household conflict seriously and is led by an ensemble cast, Ramnath’s review suggests a worthwhile, if sometimes uncomfortable, watch. The same frankness that gives the series force comes with repeated clashes, difficult characters, and an ending the reviewer finds questionable.
