The official trailer announcement for Pedro Almodóvar’s Amarga Navidad came from the Festival de Cannes, not—on the evidence of the official pages reviewed—from the Venice Film Festival. Cannes published its trailer page on May 6, 2026. Pathé Films presents the film under the title Autofiction and identifies Amarga Navidad as its original title.
Where was the Amarga Navidad trailer released?
The Festival de Cannes published an official page titled “AMARGA NAVIDAD by Pedro ALMODÓVAR – Trailer” on May 6, 2026. See the Cannes trailer listing. The listing establishes the announcement’s festival source; it does not establish that the trailer premiered at Venice.
The distinction matters because the Venice Film Festival’s 83rd edition was scheduled for September 2–12, 2026, several months after Cannes posted its trailer page. The official Venice information identifies those festival dates, but the official sources reviewed do not substantiate a Venice trailer release for this film. Venice Biennale: 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
What are the film’s titles, and when is it released?
Pathé Films uses Autofiction as the title of its film page and lists Amarga Navidad as the original title. Its page gives a May 20, 2026 theatrical release date, Spain as the film’s nationality, Spanish as its original language, a 2025 production year, and a running time of 111 minutes. Pathé Films: Autofiction. The release date is the one listed on that distributor page; it should not be read as confirmation of current showtimes in every region.
