Paramount+ error code 3304 is best treated as a playback or connectivity failure, not as a code with one publicly confirmed meaning. The problem can occur somewhere between Paramount+, your browser or app, the playback device, and the network connection. The fastest way to narrow it down is to check whether 3304 affects one title, every title on one device, or every title across your home network.
Work through the steps below in order. Most cases can be investigated without buying new hardware or changing advanced settings.
What does Paramount+ error 3304 mean?
Paramount’s public troubleshooting guidance groups error messages with playback symptoms such as a black screen, a loading image, a frozen app, or a video that will not start. That guidance recommends general app, browser, device, and network repairs rather than publishing a precise, code-specific definition for 3304.
Accordingly, 3304 should be described as a Paramount+ playback/connectivity error with several possible causes. A weak or interrupted connection, damaged app data, an outdated browser or device, an ad blocker, a VPN or proxy, a location or rights problem, a title-specific delivery issue, or a temporary service-side fault may all produce similar symptoms in different environments.

Some third-party guides describe 3304 as Paramount+ being unable to connect to its service or complete playback. That is a useful troubleshooting hypothesis, but it is not the same as an official Paramount definition. There is no reliable basis for claiming that every 3304 case is caused by Paramount’s servers, digital-rights management, a VPN, or one particular device setting.
First, identify the failure pattern
Before changing settings, record a few details:
- Which device is showing the error: smart TV, Sky Q, Roku, Fire TV, game console, phone, tablet, or computer?
- Which operating system, TV platform, app version, or browser is in use?
- Does 3304 appear on one documentary, one film, one live event, or every program?
- Does it happen when playback starts, after an advertisement, or after the video has already begun?
- Can Paramount+ play on another device using the same home connection?
- Does the affected device work when connected to a different network, such as a phone hotspot?
This simple comparison is more informative than immediately reinstalling everything.
| What fails? | What becomes more plausible? | What to test first |
|---|---|---|
| One title only | A title-specific asset, rights, regional, or delivery problem | Several other titles, then the same title on another device |
| Every title on one device | That device’s app, cache, software, or playback path | Force-close, restart, update, clear cache, or reinstall |
| Every title on several devices using one home connection | Router, DNS, VPN/proxy, location detection, account, ISP route, or a wider incident | Restart the network and test a different connection |
| Every title everywhere | A service-side or account-wide problem becomes more plausible | Check current Paramount+ support or outage reports before waiting or contacting support |
This is diagnostic reasoning, not a published Paramount taxonomy for error 3304.
How to fix Paramount+ error 3304
1. Force-close Paramount+ and open it again
Exit the Paramount+ app completely rather than merely returning to the device’s home screen. Reopen it and try the same program again. Paramount’s troubleshooting guidance recommends force-closing an app because it refreshes the application’s current session.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
On a phone or tablet, use the operating system’s app switcher to dismiss Paramount+. On a smart TV, streaming stick, or console, use the platform’s app-management controls if available. Menu names differ by manufacturer, so look for options such as Quit, Close, Force stop, or Restart app.
2. Restart the playback device completely
Perform a full restart of the smart TV, Roku, Fire TV, game console, phone, tablet, or computer. Returning to the home screen is not always enough; some televisions and streaming devices leave apps running in the background.
After the restart, open Paramount+ and test more than one title. On Roku, Paramount’s published troubleshooting path includes restarting the system and checking for system updates.
3. Update or reinstall the Paramount+ app
Check the device’s app store for a Paramount+ update. An outdated or damaged installation can cause playback failures even when other apps work normally.

If updating does not help, uninstall and reinstall Paramount+. You will generally need to sign in again, so make sure you know the account credentials before deleting the app.
Fire TV: Paramount’s Fire TV troubleshooting sequence includes force-stopping the app, clearing its cache, and deleting and reinstalling it if necessary. The exact menu path can vary by Fire OS version, but it is usually found under Settings and Applications or Manage Installed Applications. Select Paramount+, then look for Force Stop and Clear Cache. Do not confuse clearing the cache with clearing all app data unless you are prepared to sign in again.
4. Repair the browser playback path
If 3304 appears on a computer, try these browser checks:
- Use a current supported browser. Test Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge if more than one is available.
- Clear Paramount+ site data, including cached files, cookies, and browsing history where appropriate.
- Close every browser window, reopen the browser, sign in again, and retry.
- Temporarily disable ad-blocking extensions and test playback.
- Make sure browser updates are installed.
Paramount specifically warns that ad-blocking can interfere with analytical URLs and may cause streaming problems. Disable only the relevant extension for the test if your browser allows that, then re-enable it afterward if it is not involved.
A further browser-specific experiment is to disable hardware acceleration in Chrome’s settings and relaunch the browser. Some third-party troubleshooting guides recommend this for 3304, but it is not a universally proven fix and should be treated as a test rather than a permanent requirement. If it changes nothing, restore the original setting.
5. Restart the modem and router in the correct order
Restarting the network can clear a temporary connection or routing problem. Paramount’s recommended sequence is:
- Unplug the modem. If the modem and router are separate units, unplug the router as well.
- Wait about 10 seconds.
- Reconnect the modem first.
- Allow the modem to finish starting up.
- Reconnect the router, if it is separate, and wait for Wi-Fi or Ethernet service to return.
- Retry Paramount+ on the affected device.
Also check whether another device can browse the web or stream another service. Those tests do not prove that Paramount+ itself is healthy, but they can reveal a broader home-network failure.
6. Compare Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and another network
Network comparison is one of the most useful ways to separate a local problem from a service or account problem.

- Wired works, Wi-Fi fails: focus on Wi-Fi coverage, interference, router configuration, or signal quality.
- Home Wi-Fi and Ethernet both fail, but a phone hotspot works: investigate the home router, DNS configuration, ISP route, VPN, proxy, or location detection.
- Several networks and devices fail: an account-wide or Paramount-side problem becomes more plausible.
- Only one device fails on every network: concentrate on that device’s app, operating system, account session, or playback compatibility.
A hotspot test may consume mobile data, especially when playing high-definition video. Use it briefly to diagnose the problem rather than as a long-term streaming solution.
7. Temporarily disable VPNs and proxies
Turn off any VPN, proxy, Smart DNS service, or other tool that changes the apparent network location, then retry Paramount+. Restore ordinary device location and network settings for the test.
Paramount’s support materials include guidance for messages that ask users to disable a VPN or proxy. Location-altering services can interfere with regional availability checks, even when the underlying internet connection is fast and stable.
Do not use a VPN to bypass licensing or geographic restrictions. If a program is unavailable in your location, the appropriate response is to verify the service territory and subscription arrangement, not to evade the restriction.
8. Check country, account, and device-region settings
Regional configuration matters when travelling, using a cross-border account, accessing Paramount+ through a pay-TV integration, or using a device whose store or region differs from the subscription territory.
Paramount’s published guidance notes that a Roku account configured for the United States may have difficulty accessing Paramount+ outside the United States. That example should not be generalized to every platform, but it illustrates why the account country, device region, billing arrangement, and physical location may need to match the service’s availability rules.
If 3304 is accompanied by a message such as “due to licensing restrictions this video isn’t available in your location,” treat the location warning as important evidence rather than assuming the problem is ordinary buffering.

If only one documentary or program fails, try several unrelated titles. Then try the affected title on another supported device if possible. A single failing asset may be a title-specific regional, rights, or delivery issue; reinstalling the app repeatedly is unlikely to resolve that kind of problem.

Conversely, if every title fails only on one television or streaming box, the device’s software, app installation, cache, or platform integration deserves priority. Buying a replacement streaming device should be a last diagnostic option, not the first response to 3304.
10. Consider a temporary Paramount+ outage
A service-side incident is possible, particularly when multiple devices and networks fail at the same time. However, the available code-specific evidence does not establish that Paramount+ is down whenever users report 3304.
Check Paramount+’s current support channels and reputable user-reported outage monitors at the time of the failure. Look for a matching pattern—many users reporting playback failures across different devices—then retry later. Avoid treating a handful of reports as proof of a company-wide outage.
Device-specific notes
Roku
Restart the Roku, install any pending system update, force-close or remove and reinstall Paramount+ if the platform permits it, and test another title. Also check whether the Roku account and device region are appropriate for the country where Paramount+ is being used.
Fire TV
Force-stop Paramount+, clear its cache, check for app and Fire OS updates, and reinstall if necessary. Restart the Fire TV after making changes and test playback again.
Smart TVs and game consoles
Use the platform’s full restart option, update the system and app, and reinstall Paramount+ if possible. If the app fails on one television but works on a phone using the same router, the television’s app or platform is a more likely starting point than the broadband connection.
Sky Q and integrated television platforms
Reports in Sky Community discussions from February 2025 associated error 3304 with a location/licensing message on a Sky Q box. One user reported that Paramount+ worked on an iPad over the same router while the Sky Q box failed. A separate February 2024 discussion reported that resetting a Sky Q box stopped the error.

What not to do
- Do not claim that 3304 has one officially confirmed meaning unless Paramount publishes a code-specific explanation.
- Do not assume that Paramount’s servers are down merely because several people report the code.
- Do not promise that disabling hardware acceleration will fix browser playback.
- Do not use a VPN to evade regional licensing or availability restrictions.
- Do not factory-reset a Sky Q box or replace a streaming device before testing the app, device restart, network, and account variables.
- Do not install a paid PC-cleaning or optimization tool as an official Paramount+ remedy. Paramount’s recommended path focuses on the browser, app, device, and network.
When to contact Paramount+ support
Contact Paramount+ support if 3304 remains after the relevant app, browser, device, and network checks. Include enough information for support to reproduce the failure:
- The exact error code and complete message
- Your country and the device or platform affected
- The app, operating-system, or browser version
- The title or live event that fails
- Whether one title or every title fails
- Whether another device on the same connection works
- Whether a different network works
- Whether the error appears before playback, after an advertisement, or during the program
- The steps you have already completed
This information is much more useful than simply reporting that “Paramount+ is broken.” It can show support whether the problem follows the account, title, device, network, or location.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Paramount+ error 3304 caused by an outage?
It can coincide with a service-side incident, but 3304 does not by itself prove that Paramount+ is experiencing an outage. Test another title, device, and network, then check current support or outage reports.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Will a VPN fix Paramount+ error 3304?
No. A VPN or proxy may actually contribute to playback or location errors. Temporarily disable it and test using the ordinary network and location settings. Do not use one to bypass geographic restrictions.
Should I clear the Paramount+ cache?
Yes, when the platform provides that option. Force-stop the app first, then clear its cache and restart the device. Fire TV’s Paramount+ troubleshooting path specifically includes clearing the app cache. Reinstalling may be necessary if the installation is damaged.
Why does one Paramount+ title show 3304 while other programs play?
A single-title failure makes a title-specific rights, regional, asset, or delivery problem more plausible than a general home-network failure. Test the same title on another supported device and report the exact program to Paramount+.
Do I need to buy a new streaming stick?
Usually not. First restart, update, clear the app cache where available, reinstall, and test another device or network. A replacement device is useful only as a last diagnostic comparison and is not a guaranteed fix.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Error 3304 is a symptom, not a reliably decoded Paramount+ diagnosis. Force-close and restart the app and device, update or reinstall the app, repair the browser if applicable, restart the modem and router, disable VPNs or proxies, verify regional settings, and compare another title, device, or network. If the error follows the account or appears everywhere, give Paramount+ support the full failure pattern instead of assuming that one universal fix applies.
