That saved me.” She was speaking about what being a mother meant to her—not claiming her sons, Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee, were responsible for rescuing her. Anderson has also credited them with encouraging her to tell her own story and supporting her career.
What Anderson means when she says motherhood “saved” her
In a January 2023 interview with CBS News’ Jim Axelrod, Anderson described focusing on her two sons during difficult periods. “I was a mother. That saved me. You know, if I wasn’t a mom, I don’t think I would’ve survived,” she said. CBS News published the interview on January 12, 2023.

Speaking with Ronan Farrow in 2023, Anderson added an important qualification: “You don’t want to put that kind of pressure on your kids, but my kids did save me.” The phrase is her personal account of the sustaining role motherhood played in her life; it should not be read as a clinical claim or as evidence that her sons knowingly or solely rescued her. Interview Magazine published the conversation.
Who are Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee?
Anderson shares two sons with her former husband, musician Tommy Lee. According to ABC News, Brandon Thomas Lee was born on June 5, 1996, and Dylan Jagger Lee on December 29, 1997. The brothers grew up in Malibu and attended boarding school on Vancouver Island. ABC News profiled the family on July 29, 2025.

Brandon’s work in acting and producing
ABC News reports that Brandon has acted, appeared on The Hills: New Beginnings, and worked as a producer. He was a co-producer of the Netflix documentary Pamela: A Love Story and an executive producer of The Last Showgirl. His work on the documentary connects to Anderson’s public effort to tell her story in her own voice, while also forming part of Brandon’s own career.
Dylan’s work in modeling and music
ABC News describes Dylan’s work in modeling and music. He was a member of the band Midnight Kids from 2016 to 2021 and later worked with Anton Khabbaz as Motel 7. These are separate pursuits from Brandon’s reported acting and producing work.

How the brothers encouraged Anderson to tell her story
Anderson told Farrow that her sons were major instigators of her memoir project. She said they had been affected by the stolen tape and her divorce from Tommy Lee, and wanted people to see the person behind public assumptions. As she recalled their words: “Mom, no one knows you, and they think they do.” Anderson said, “So they supported me 100 percent.”
Her memoir, Love, Pamela, is one place where she presents her own account of her life and motherhood. Brandon also had a direct role in the documentary Pamela: A Love Story as a co-producer, as reported by ABC News.

How they have supported her publicly
In ABC News’ July 2025 report, Brandon and Dylan joined Anderson at the New York premiere of The Naked Gun on July 28. The outlet also reported Brandon attending the 2025 Met Gala and Golden Globes with his mother. These are dated public examples of support; they do not establish every aspect of the family’s private relationship.
In a December 2024 Variety interview quoted by ABC News, Brandon described his own perspective: “My personal mission was to give my mom the opportunities she gave me as a child. She would do anything for me. She showed up and was a very good mother. And at a certain point in your life, you become a protector.” His statement frames support as reciprocal, in his words, while Anderson’s comments explain why motherhood mattered so deeply to her.
