Host Craig Melvin asked the actors, “What’s the deal here? You’re both single right now. There’s clearly chemistry on display throughout this film. Are you two an item?” Us Weekly reported Neeson’s response: “I had never met Pamela before. We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry — as two actors.”

Neeson added, “It’s like, ‘Oh, this is nice. Let’s not mold this. Let’s just let it breathe.’ And that’s what we did.” Anderson answered playfully that she did not understand the question. The exchange left the status ambiguous rather than confirming that they were a couple. Us Weekly reported the exchange.
What Anderson later revealed about their relationship
In a December 2025 report, ABC News relayed Anderson’s account from an interview with People: she and Neeson were romantically involved briefly, but only after they finished filming The Naked Gun. Addressing speculation that the romance was a publicity stunt, Anderson said, “This was real. We have real feelings.” She also said they were better as friends afterward. This later account puts the relationship in the past tense; it was not part of the July broadcast. ABC News reported Anderson’s comments on December 9, 2025.

Why the rumors grew during film promotion
Anderson and Neeson played love interests in The Naked Gun. The Los Angeles Times described Anderson’s account of their off-camera connection as “professionally romantic.” Their public appearances added to the speculation: at the July 22 U.K. premiere, they behaved affectionately, and an Instagram video showed them pretending to be caught in a kiss. The Los Angeles Times covered the promotional context on July 30, 2025.
The distinction is important: the July 29 interview was a coy exchange during promotion, not a public confirmation. Anderson’s December comments were a later account of a brief romance that began after filming ended.
