Yes. An OVHcloud VPS can run a playback-and-encoder setup that sends prerecorded bhajan audio or video to YouTube Live. It is a self-managed server, not a turnkey streaming service: you are responsible for its configuration, security, maintenance, backups, and the software that keeps the broadcast going. Choose a VPS for the actual workload
Do not select a plan based only on the phrase “24/7.” Server needs depend on the playback and encoder software, the media format and bitrate, whether the stream is audio-only or video, and whether you are transcoding. There is no established minimum plan for a particular bhajan streaming stack here, and no specific configuration should be treated as a tested recommendation. If you can stream without transcoding, the workload may differ from one that decodes and re-encodes video; validate your chosen setup under sustained operation before relying on it.
Plan for enough disk space for the media, operating system, logs, and any working files, and enough network capacity for the outgoing stream plus headroom. Secure and prepare the server
- Connect using the access details provided for your VPS. Confirm you can reach the server and have a recovery route before changing SSH or firewall settings.
- Update the operating system. Use the package-update process appropriate to the selected distribution. Avoid copying commands for a different Linux distribution or operating system.
- Limit administrative access. Use an administrator account only when needed, use
sudofor privileged tasks where appropriate, and secure SSH according to OVHcloud’s guidance. Keep a working recovery path while changing access controls. - Configure the firewall for the services you actually use. Do not expose unnecessary ports. Confirm outbound connectivity required by your playback and encoder software.
- Plan security and backups. Keep the system maintained, decide how you will restore configuration and media, and consider protections such as fail2ban where appropriate to your operating system and access pattern.
These are administration decisions, not a one-time streaming setting: an unattended server still needs ongoing maintenance and a backup plan.
Install playback and encoder software for your bhajan feed
Choose a workflow based on what viewers will see and hear. Audio-only streams, a still image with audio, a prepared video playlist, and live camera capture are different workloads. For prerecorded devotional programming, organize the files and define how the player moves between tracks or videos, handles the end of a playlist, and responds to missing or unreadable files. Then configure an encoder to send the resulting output to YouTube Live.

The exact commands and settings depend on the software and operating system you choose; no particular FFmpeg or OBS installation has been tested for this guide. Follow the chosen encoder’s current documentation, and confirm that it can keep playing through the playlist and reconnect or be restarted if it exits. A VPS remaining powered on does not, by itself, ensure that the player or encoder remains healthy.
Connect the encoder to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or select the stream using YouTube’s current encoder workflow. See YouTube’s guide to creating a live stream with an encoder.
- Copy the current stream URL and stream key from the stream settings into your encoder. Do not assume that a URL or key from an old stream is still the right one.
- Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP sent over TLS/SSL. Its RTMPS help page explains the secure ingestion option.
- Protect the stream key like a password. Keep it out of public scripts, screenshots, and shared logs. If it is exposed, replace or reset it through YouTube’s controls and update the encoder.
- Start a private or otherwise suitable test before public broadcast. Check that YouTube receives the feed and that the preview shows the intended picture and sound before making the stream public.
YouTube recommends at least 20% upload bandwidth headroom over the stream bitrate and warns that network disruptions can interrupt a stream. Test the complete path and plan recovery
Before leaving the channel unattended, test from playlist playback through the encoder to YouTube’s received preview. YouTube advises testing the encoder and monitoring stream quality. Check:
- Audio is present, intelligible, and not clipped; video and audio stay synchronized if the stream includes both.
- The playlist advances as expected, including at the end of a file or playlist, and does not stop on an unsupported or missing item.
- The stream remains stable under the intended output settings and network conditions.
- You can recognize a failed player, encoder, or connection and have a documented way to restart it.
- You have alerts or another monitoring method appropriate to the importance of the channel.
A process supervisor or restart policy can help recover from an application exit, but its configuration depends on your chosen operating system and stack. It cannot fix every failure: a bad stream key, a YouTube-side interruption, exhausted disk space, an invalid media file, or a network outage may need a different response. Plan the archive and stream schedule
YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a 24-hour broadcast will be preserved as one archive. If keeping a replay matters, confirm YouTube’s current handling for longer streams and consider scheduling planned sessions or segments under 12 hours, with time to verify that each session ends and archives as intended. A segmented schedule requires a corresponding encoder and playlist plan; validate the transitions before relying on them.

Before broadcasting, keep a record of where each recording and visual came from and what permission covers livestreaming, public performance, and any replay or archive. Rights for a song composition and rights for a specific sound recording can be different; clear both as applicable.
