The clearest documented public activity since then is a triathlon in Durban on 1 June 2025. That appearance does not establish a return to professional athletics, and public records and reporting cited here do not provide a full account of his private daily life in 2026.

The Associated Press reported around his release that he would be supervised and face travel and media restrictions through parole, which it said would last until December 2029. Treat those details as AP’s account of the conditions at the time, rather than as a current, exhaustive list issued by DCS. Associated Press coverage of his release.
What has he done publicly since leaving prison?
Reuters documented Pistorius competing in a triathlon in Durban, South Africa, on 1 June 2025, roughly a year and a half after his parole began. This is a dated public sporting appearance; one event alone does not show that he has resumed an elite or professional athletics career. Reuters Connect image record.

CBS News reported on 5 June 2025 that Pistorius’s lawyer confirmed his participation in the event. CBS also reported that travel between districts required parole permission. That permission detail is media reporting, not a condition specified in the DCS statements cited above. CBS News report on the Durban triathlon.
What is not established about his private life?
The available official information and cited reporting do not establish a comprehensive picture of Pistorius’s day-to-day life in 2026. They do not provide reliable, direct confirmation of his current routine, employment, relationship status, or residence. Claims about those subjects should not be treated as fact without current, authoritative sourcing.
What has Reeva Steenkamp’s family said?
In a statement reported by AP on 5 January 2024, Reeva’s mother, June Steenkamp, said she accepted the parole decision as part of South African law while stressing that her daughter’s loss remained painful. She said she wanted to focus on the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation and continuing Reeva’s legacy. Acceptance of the legal process should not be confused with forgiveness or reconciliation.
