His motive was tied to stealing her screenplay and fearing she would expose him. The episode resolves Sazz’s murder, then ends with another death: longtime Arconia doorman Lester is found in the courtyard fountain.
Who killed Sazz in the Season 4 finale?
Marshall is revealed as Sazz’s killer. Finale recaps from TV Guide and Vulture identify him as the struggling writer who had been going by Rex Bailey.
The episode’s confrontation confirms Marshall’s responsibility. According to those recaps, he shot Sazz from Professor Dudenoff’s apartment across the courtyard, then reached Charles’s apartment and disposed of her body through the garbage chute. The finale’s explanation links the shooting and disposal to the same murder; details beyond the chronology described in the coverage are not established here.
Why did Marshall kill Sazz?
Sazz knew Marshall had taken her screenplay and was prepared to tell Charles. The script represented a possible route to a movie deal for Marshall, who had struggled to establish himself as a writer. But Sazz had not agreed to let him claim her work as his own. The theft is therefore more than a clue: it supplies the motive for silencing someone who could expose him, as described in Vulture and The Hollywood Reporter.

What happens at Oliver and Loretta’s wedding?
After the trio confronts Marshall, Oliver and Loretta marry. Charles, Mabel, and Oliver get a brief chance to enjoy a happy ending without another immediate murder interrupting their lives. That reprieve is deliberately short: the finale pivots from the wedding to a fresh death at the Arconia.
Who dies at the end, and what is the next mystery?
Lester, the building’s longtime doorman, is found dead in the courtyard fountain. His death becomes the cliffhanger that launches the next investigation: the season closes on the question of who killed him.

There is a second unresolved thread. Sofia Caccimelio approaches Charles with a missing-husband case. The finale coverage establishes that her husband is missing, but does not establish that the disappearance and Lester’s death are connected. Treat them as separate open questions unless later-season reporting confirms a link.

The available finale coverage centers on Marshall’s screenwriting theft and Sazz’s murder; it does not identify a Glock as a plot point or explain the phrase “Writer’s Glock.” The evidence supports describing Marshall’s writer-related motive, not claiming that the title phrase refers to a weapon in the episode.
