Who comes to help the giants?
The Giant Warrior Pirates
The Giant Warrior Pirates are among the additional allies reported to join the struggle. Their arrival fits the wider Elbaf conflict, where the God’s Knights’ actions threaten the island’s people. The exact sequence of their arrival and individual actions should be taken from the chapter rather than inferred from later volume summaries.

Scopper Gaban
Gaban is a former member of the Roger Pirates. His official character profile says he fought with an axe in each hand. Shueisha’s description of Volume 112 calls him “the left arm of the Pirate King” and says Luffy encounters him in the volume’s Elbaf story.
That history makes Gaban an important figure in the arc, but it is not a substitute for what chapter 1144 itself shows. The publisher’s description provides character context, not a chapter-specific account of his actions.

Why are they fighting the God’s Knights?
The broader conflict centers on the Knights’ threat to Elbaf and its people. Shueisha’s Volume 112 synopsis says two God’s Knights contact Loki, who is imprisoned in the Underworld. The later Volume 113 synopsis explains that the Knights take children hostage to subdue Elbaf and that the Giant Warrior Pirates respond to the danger.
Volume 113 covers chapters 1145–1155, so its hostage situation and other developments are later context—not events to attribute to chapter 1144. The distinction matters when describing how the confrontation escalates.

How chapter 1144 fits the Elbaf arc
Shueisha’s official synopsis for One Piece Volume 112 says the Straw Hats reach Elbaf and are welcomed by Dorry, Brogy, and other giant friends. It also describes the Elbaf “H Harley” lore and Luffy’s encounter with Gaban. Together, those details place the chapter’s new allies within an island story already shaped by the Straw Hats’ relationships with the giants and the Knights’ approach to Loki.
The publisher’s phrase “the left arm of the Pirate King” is its own description of Gaban, not a line attributed to a character in chapter 1144. The official Scopper Gaban character profile identifies him as a former Roger Pirates crew member and describes his two-axe fighting style.
