What happens in Chapter 1080?
Chapter 1080, titled “The Hero of Legend,” takes place on Fullalead, also known as Pirate Island. Koby escapes captivity and helps other prisoners flee, drawing danger toward himself. In the story, Blackbeard’s plan is to use Koby as leverage while seeking recognition for Fullalead as a country; the chapter presents this as an aim, not a successful outcome.

SWORD officers Prince Grus, Hibari, and Kujaku join the rescue effort. Garp then arrives aboard a battleship and attacks the pirate-held area with Galaxy Impact. The sequence shifts the focus from the escape and rescue to the scale of Garp’s intervention.
What does Galaxy Impact reveal about Garp?
The attack is presented as a broad, destructive blow against the island’s pirate-held area—not a narrowly targeted exchange with one opponent. Its scale and Garp’s forceful entrance make the scene a clear showcase of his physical power. The chapter supports calling him exceptionally powerful in this moment; it does not establish a numerical measure of his strength or settle how he compares with every other elite character.

That distinction matters: one dramatic feat demonstrates what Garp can do in this situation, but a definitive ranking would need broader evidence, including comparable opponents and on-page feats under similar conditions. Chapter 1080 is a showcase, not a complete power scale.
Why the rescue is personal
Garp’s entrance is also driven by his relationship with Koby. He calls Koby his protégé and treats him as important to the Navy’s future. That mentor-and-student connection gives the attack a dramatic purpose beyond spectacle: Garp is intervening to protect someone he believes matters to what comes next.
