The international streaming return of the One Piece anime happened on April 5, 2025. That was the date Crunchyroll resumed its simulcast after Toei Animation’s planned production break. The regular Japanese broadcast followed on April 6 with Episode 1124; Episode 1123 had aired as part of a Fuji TV special on April 5.
If you are checking this schedule now, there is an important update: the 2025 date referred to the anime’s return to the Egghead Arc. After that storyline, Toei introduced another production break and the anime returned again on April 5, 2026, with the Elbaph Arc.
The exact dates behind the “six-month” return
The break was announced on October 13, 2024. Regular production of the One Piece anime’s Egghead Arc was scheduled to pause from October 20, 2024, through March 30, 2025, while the production team prepared future episodes and worked toward improved episode quality.
That interval was not exactly six calendar months. From October 20 to March 30 is approximately five months and 11 days. The first new international streaming episode arrived on April 5, making the elapsed time roughly five months and 16 days. “After six months” was therefore a reasonable headline shorthand, but the specific dates are more accurate.

When did the One Piece anime return internationally?
For viewers outside Japan, the key date was Saturday, April 5, 2025. Toei Animation and Crunchyroll announced that the international simulcast would resume on Crunchyroll in multiple territories.
In practical terms, viewers could use the One Piece simulcast on Crunchyroll to follow the return, subject to local licensing and the release timing available in their country. The international date should not be confused with the Japanese television schedule, which used two closely spaced broadcast events.
Episode 1123 and Episode 1124 were released on different Japanese dates
| Date | What happened | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| April 5, 2025 | Episode 1123 aired as part of a Fuji TV special. | This was also the date announced for the international Crunchyroll simulcast return. |
| April 6, 2025 | Episode 1124 marked the regular Japanese broadcast resumption. | It was the first episode in the new regular Sunday broadcast slot. |
The official Japanese announcement placed the continuing broadcast in a new Sunday 11:15 p.m. time slot. Consequently, saying that Episode 1124 aired in Japan on April 5 would be incorrect: April 5 applied to Episode 1123’s special broadcast, while the regular broadcast resumed with Episode 1124 on April 6.
Why did Toei pause the Egghead Arc?
Toei described the interruption as a planned production break intended to give the team time to prepare higher-quality episodes. It was not announced as a cancellation, an indefinite delay, or the end of the Egghead storyline.

During the pause, a specially edited version of the Fish-Man Island story occupied the regular Japanese broadcast slot. That programming choice allowed the franchise to remain on television while the production staff prepared the next stage of the Egghead Arc.
The decision also created a useful distinction for viewers: the anime was still being broadcast in Japan during the hiatus period, but regular new Egghead Arc episodes were not being produced and released on their normal schedule.
Where was the 2025 international simulcast available?
Toei and Crunchyroll identified several regions for the April 5, 2025 resumption, including:
- United States
- Canada
- Australia
- New Zealand
- South Africa
- India
- Southeast Asia
- Latin America
This list should not be interpreted as a worldwide guarantee. Anime streaming rights are territory-specific, and a service may offer different episode timing, subtitles, dubbing, or catalog depth depending on the viewer’s country. Check the local Crunchyroll listing before relying on a particular release time.

What happened after the Egghead Arc?
The April 2025 return is now historical rather than an upcoming event. As of August 12, 2026, the One Piece anime has moved beyond the 2025 Egghead return and has begun the Elbaph Arc.
Toei announced a revised production model for 2026. The anime took another three-month break from January through March 2026, with a stated maximum of 26 episodes per year. The Elbaph Arc then returned to Crunchyroll on April 5, 2026.
That means two separate return dates need to be kept apart:
- April 5, 2025: international streaming resumed after the Egghead production break; the Japanese regular broadcast followed on April 6.
- April 5, 2026: the anime returned again with the Elbaph Arc under Toei’s revised production schedule.
Toei Animation Europe has also listed Crunchyroll EMEA, Netflix globally, and several regional services among the platforms associated with the Elbaph simulcast. Availability and same-day release timing can vary, so viewers should verify the service available in their territory rather than assuming that every platform carries identical episodes at the same time.

How to catch up while waiting between releases
Viewers who want more of the story can use the break between anime episodes to revisit the source material. VIZ lists English-language One Piece manga box sets and individual volumes, including Box Set 1, which collects volumes 1–23, and Box Set 4, which collects volumes 71–90.
Those box sets are useful for collecting or revisiting earlier parts of the manga, but they should not be presented as a direct substitute for the current anime schedule or as coverage of the current Elbaph storyline. Manga availability, edition, language, and retailer stock can vary by country.
What the original headline got right—and what it gets wrong now
The original “return after six months” description was broadly accurate for the 2025 announcement because the regular Egghead Arc production break lasted nearly six months and the first international stream arrived on April 5. However, it is misleading if presented as a current announcement.
The accurate version
- The Egghead Arc production break ran from October 20, 2024, through March 30, 2025.
- Crunchyroll’s international simulcast resumed on April 5, 2025.
- Episode 1123 was part of a Fuji TV special on April 5.
- Episode 1124 resumed the regular Japanese broadcast on April 6.
- The anime later returned with the Elbaph Arc on April 5, 2026.
So, if you are searching for the old announcement, the answer is April 5, 2025. If you are looking for the anime’s latest major return, the relevant date is April 5, 2026, when the Elbaph Arc began.
Source note
The dates and schedule distinctions in this article are based on announcements from the official One Piece website, Toei Animation, Toei Animation’s U.S. press materials, Toei Animation Europe, Crunchyroll, Fuji TV, and VIZ’s official manga catalog. The research record identifies these source materials as c001–c013. Platform availability remains subject to territory-specific rights.

The anime returned again on April 5, 2026, with the Elbaph Arc. That is separate from the April 5, 2025 return, which continued the Egghead Arc.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The One Piece anime’s international Egghead Arc return was April 5, 2025, after a planned break from October 20, 2024, through March 30, 2025. Episode 1124 followed in Japan on April 6. The anime’s later Elbaph Arc return took place on April 5, 2026, so the older “return after six months” headline should now be treated as historical context.
