Olivia Wilde sold her Studio City home for a reported $5.23 million after buying it for $5.9 million, a gross price difference of about $670,000. That is not a verified net loss: the figures do not account for taxes, fees, renovations, financing or the costs of owning the property. Realtor.com reported the sale in 2026 and said it closed on December 2, but the passage does not identify the year of closing.
What the reported sale figures show
Realtor.com reported that Wilde’s Studio City property sold for $5.23 million. The outlet put the purchase price at $5.9 million and said the home had been listed for $6.2 million less than three months before the sale. Comparing the reported purchase and sale prices gives a gross difference of approximately $670,000; comparing the asking and sale prices gives a $970,000 gap.
| Figure | What it represents |
|---|---|
| $5.9 million | Reported purchase price; Realtor.com (2026) and Traded (2023). |
| $6.2 million | Reported asking price before the sale; Realtor.com (2026). |
| $5.23 million | Reported sale price; Realtor.com (2026). |
| About $670,000 | Arithmetic difference between the reported purchase and sale prices, not a reported net loss; calculated from Realtor.com’s figures (2026). |
| $970,000 | Arithmetic difference between the reported asking price and sale price; calculated from Realtor.com’s figures (2026). |
The sale price is not the same as the seller’s net proceeds. The available figures do not establish how much Wilde received after transaction costs or whether improvements, financing, taxes or carrying costs changed the overall financial result.
When did Wilde buy the Studio City house?
The purchase timing is inconsistent across the reports. Realtor.com says Wilde bought the property in March 2023, while Traded’s deal page records a $5.9 million purchase closing on July 26, 2023. Without a primary transaction record that resolves the difference, the purchase month should be treated as disputed.

Realtor.com says the sale closed on December 2 but does not specify the year in the passage reviewed. The sale date should therefore not be assigned a year based on that passage alone.
What was the Studio City property like?
The home was described as a roughly 3,700-square-foot residence on 0.66 acres, with four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. Realtor.com relayed the listing description, which credited the original design to architect Barbara Bestor and said the house received an extensive refresh in 2015.

Reported features included an open-plan interior, chef’s kitchen, patio and outdoor kitchen, pool, spa, fireplace and detached guesthouse. The listing description, as quoted by Realtor.com, called it “the spirit of L.A. living—architectural pedigree, seamless indoor-outdoor flow, and layered, artful detail.” That is listing language, not a statement attributed to Wilde.
Is this the same home as Wilde’s Los Feliz property?
No. The reported transaction concerns Wilde’s Studio City home, not her earlier Los Feliz property. The Los Angeles Times reported in 2013 that the separate Los Feliz home sold for $2,190,950 after a $2.295 million purchase in 2011. Those figures belong to a different property and should not be folded into the Studio City sale.
