Ocean Alley’s fifth studio album, Love Balloon, was released on September 19, 2025. Keyboardist and vocalist Lach Galbraith described it as a record about love in its full range, from joy to hurt and disappointment. The band’s announced Western Australian shows were in Fremantle and Margaret River on February 21 and 22, 2026; both dates have passed.
What is Ocean Alley’s Love Balloon about?
Galbraith’s description makes the album’s central idea broader than romantic infatuation. In comments quoted by PerthNow, he said: “The album explores the many layered dimensions of love – not just the cinematic kind where you’re falling head over heels, but the full spectrum: joy, hurt, discomfort and disappointment,” PerthNow reported.
He expanded on that idea in an interview with ABC triple j, comparing love to a river that can deepen, become shallow, or change course, whether it is shared with a partner, friend, or family member. “It’s such a force that you have to just surrender to its current,” he said. ABC triple j published the comments on June 4, 2025.
