OBS Settings for Looping Hindi Bhajan Videos in a 24/7 YouTube Stream

Learn how to loop one bhajan video or a playlist in OBS, choose YouTube-aligned encoder settings, and test the stream before a long run.

For one Hindi bhajan video, add it to an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. For several recordings played in sequence, use VLC Video and enable Loop Playlist (VLC must be installed). A sensible first configuration to test for mostly static devotional artwork is 1920×1080 at 30 fps, H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval and 10 Mbps video bitrate. That is YouTube-aligned guidance—not a guarantee that a particular PC or internet connection can sustain a nonstop broadcast.

Choose the right OBS source for your bhajan

One video: Media Source

In the scene you plan to stream, add a Media Source, select the local video file and turn on Loop. OBS defines this option as replaying the file when playback completes. The separate Restart playback when source becomes active option restarts playback when the source becomes visible; it does not make a completed video repeat. OBS lists MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF and WebM as supported local video formats. OBS: Media Sources

Several videos: VLC Video

For an ordered set of recordings, add a VLC Video source, choose the files in the desired order and enable Loop Playlist. Install VLC first; this source depends on it. This is the better fit when you want different bhajans to rotate rather than replaying a single recording. OBS: Media Sources

Build and check the scene

  1. Create a scene: Add the Media Source or VLC Video source to the scene that will feed the broadcast. OBS scenes combine media and other sources into the stream layout. OBS: Scenes and Sources
  2. Fit the picture: Check that the video fills the canvas as intended and that any text or artwork remains visible. Avoid stretching the image out of proportion.
  3. Check audio routing: Confirm the bhajan is audible in the stream mix and that desktop audio or another capture source is not creating an unintended duplicate. Listen to a test stream to check level and sync; the exact routing depends on the target system.
  4. Verify the loop: Let the file reach its end during a private or otherwise suitable test and confirm it starts again cleanly. For a playlist, check the transition between files as well as the return from the final item to the first.

Choose resolution, frame rate and bitrate

For mostly static devotional imagery, 1080p at 30 fps is a practical starting point to test. It can preserve readable artwork and text without the additional encoding and upload demands of 60 fps. This is a recommendation based on the typical low-motion content, not a YouTube requirement. OBS advises matching output resolution to the intended stream and testing system capacity; 60 fps can be taxing. OBS: Streaming Guide

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube output mode H.264 recommended bitrate H.264 minimum
720p30 6 Mbps 2 Mbps
720p60 8 Mbps 3 Mbps
1080p30 10 Mbps 5 Mbps
1080p60 17 Mbps 6 Mbps

These are YouTube’s H.264 live-ingestion recommendations and minimums, not assurances of stream quality on a particular connection. Do not apply the H.264 figures to AV1 or H.265/HEVC: YouTube’s 1080p30 recommendation for those codecs is 10 Mbps, with a 4 Mbps minimum. Check the platform’s encoder table for the exact codec, resolution and frame rate you select. YouTube: Live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions

Use these encoder settings as a baseline

  • Rate control: CBR.
  • Keyframe interval: 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
  • Video bitrate: Select the table value for your codec and output mode. For H.264 1080p30, start at 10 Mbps if your encoder and upload connection can sustain it.
  • Video codec: H.264 is a straightforward starting choice. YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1, subject to encoder support.
  • Audio: YouTube lists AAC or MP3, recommends 44.1 kHz for stereo and a 128 kbps stereo audio bitrate.
  • Ingestion protocol: Use RTMPS where available.

Use YouTube’s current encoder-settings guidance when configuring the output, since the appropriate bitrate changes with codec, resolution and frame rate. YouTube recommends matching bitrate to connection capacity and testing before going live. YouTube: Live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions

Test the full broadcast before leaving it on

  1. Test with the same audio and representative movement or visual changes as the planned stream, rather than judging only a still frame.
  2. Check that the loop or playlist cycles as expected, the audio is present without duplication, and picture and sound remain synchronized.
  3. Review stream health and messages in YouTube Live Control Room before and during the broadcast. YouTube advises monitoring stream health while live. YouTube: Live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions
  4. Confirm the computer and upload connection can keep the chosen output going under sustained load. A short successful test cannot guarantee a 24/7 run.

Common problems and what to check

  • The video stops at the end: For a single recording, check that Loop is enabled on the Media Source. For several files, use VLC Video with Loop Playlist, and make sure VLC is installed.
  • The file restarts only when the source appears: Restart playback when source becomes active is not the loop setting. Enable Loop to repeat a completed file.
  • The stream drops frames or becomes unstable: OBS identifies dropped frames as a network stability or bitrate-capacity symptom. Check whether the upstream connection can sustain the chosen bitrate; reduce output demands if it cannot, then retest. OBS’s automatic reconnect can help reconnect after a disconnection, but does not promise uninterrupted service. OBS: Dropped Frames and the Network OBS: Advanced Network Settings
  • The stream is silent or has doubled audio: Check the source’s audio in the OBS mixer and review desktop or other audio capture sources for duplicates. Make a test broadcast and listen to its playback.
  • The picture is soft, cropped or distorted: Check the source fit and OBS output resolution against the intended stream output. Use an output mode that preserves the source’s aspect ratio.
  • The PC struggles at 60 fps: Try 30 fps and reassess system load. OBS cautions that 60 fps may be demanding; choose the bitrate for the new mode rather than carrying over a different mode’s number.

Copyright, eligibility and long-run expectations

Only stream bhajan recordings, music, artwork and other material you have the rights or permission to use. Devotional or traditional subject matter does not by itself establish that a particular recording or arrangement is free of copyright restrictions. Review YouTube’s current rules and your channel’s live status in Live Control Room before starting. The settings here do not establish channel eligibility, guarantee that YouTube will accept a broadcast indefinitely, or establish whether a full-day stream will be retained as a replay; verify those details with YouTube for your channel and current circumstances.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you would rather not keep OBS and a home computer running, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera.
