For one track, use an OBS Media Source with Loop enabled; for a multi-song playlist, use VLC Video. Before going live, confirm you have permission to stream both the compositions and the specific recordings, then test and monitor the broadcast.
Choose a resolution and bitrate your connection can hold
For static or slowly changing artwork, 720p30 and 1080p30 are practical starting points. Choose based on the sharpness you want and the upload capacity available to OBS—not just the speed advertised for your internet plan. YouTube’s current H.264 ingestion guidance gives these bitrate figures:

These are YouTube ingestion recommendations, not a guaranteed OBS preset for your computer or network. YouTube recommends keeping about 20% upload headroom and warns that network disruptions can break a stream. Test upload speed on the same connection OBS will use, at the time and place you plan to stream. Leave capacity for other devices and services sharing that connection. If the stream drops frames or health warnings appear, reduce the bitrate or step down from 1080p30 to 720p30.

Set OBS encoder, keyframes, and audio
In OBS, open Settings > Output, select the streaming output mode you use, choose a YouTube-supported encoder, and set rate control to CBR. Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. Choose a bitrate appropriate for the resolution and frame rate using the table above. Encoder names and available options vary with the computer and OBS version, so use a mode YouTube supports rather than assuming every listed option appears on every system.
For audio, YouTube supports AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS. For stereo, set the audio sample rate to 44.1 kHz and bitrate to 128 kbps, YouTube’s recommended stereo audio bitrate. Use RTMPS where available; YouTube recommends it as the secure version of RTMP. These settings are ingestion guidance, not a claim that a particular machine can encode continuously without problems.

Make the Tamil songs playlist loop in OBS
Loop one local audio or video file
- In the OBS scene you will broadcast, add a Media Source.
- Select the local song file. OBS Media Source supports common local audio and video formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV audio.
- Enable Loop in the source properties if you want that one file to repeat.
- Confirm the source is visible and active in the live scene, then play it and check that the OBS audio meter responds.
Loop a multi-song playlist
- Install VLC, then add a VLC Video source in OBS.
- Load the song files into the source playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist to repeat the set; OBS documentation says this option is on by default. Enable shuffle only if you want the song order to vary.
- Make sure the VLC source is visible and active in the scene, start playback, and verify that the audio meter moves.
OBS’s VLC source requires VLC, and the bitness must match: the OBS help page specifically says 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. The official OBS pages documenting these source options date to 2022, so labels may have shifted in newer releases. See the OBS Media Sources guide and OBS Sources guide.
These steps cover local files. Do not assume that capturing a browser page or an external music service will play continuously or be permitted for rebroadcast; playback behavior and rights depend on that service and its terms.

Clear the songs and recordings for livestream use
Before you build the playlist, check that you have the rights or permissions needed for both the musical compositions and the particular sound recordings. The permission must cover the intended YouTube livestream and relevant territory. A track being available online or saved locally does not establish permission to rebroadcast it. YouTube’s live settings guidance calls out audio and video rights; it does not clear any particular Tamil song, recording, label catalogue, or territory. Check with the relevant rights holders or the terms of your license before streaming. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance.
Test before starting a long broadcast
- Start an unlisted test with the intended artwork, playlist, audio levels, resolution, and bitrate.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and check the preview, event access, stream-health messages, and audio/video quality.
- Let the playlist run long enough to confirm that it advances or loops as intended, and listen for silence, clipping, or unexpected gaps.
- If local recording is enabled, confirm that the archive file is growing. This does not replace checking the live preview.
- During the broadcast, monitor playback and stream health. Arrange a way for someone to notice a failed connection, stalled playlist, muted audio, or warning.
YouTube advises testing with audio and movement similar to the planned broadcast and monitoring stream health. A 24/7 playlist is an operating responsibility as well as an OBS configuration: the official guidance recommends monitoring, but does not promise uninterrupted uptime or provide a complete failover design. Troubleshoot common playlist-stream problems
